WERRRK.com 2015 Queen of New York Award

Los Angeles and New York. New York and Los Angeles. They’re the cities with more drag queens per square mile than other! Drag is blossoming like never before on both coasts with more and more incredibly creative, gorgeous and talented queens showing up on the scene all the time. This award honors the drag queen in the Big Apple that made the biggest impact this year so without further adieu, we present the nominees for the WERRRK.com 2015 Queen of New York Award (sponsored by Jenn Witek Photography)

*Editor’s Note: We have made an executive decision to not include any former or current RuPaul’s Drag Race Queens on this list. Not to diminish the talents of queens like Phi Phi O’Hara, Miss Fame or others because lord knows we love us some Drag Racers but we want to shine a spotlight on some of the talented young queens that have yet to gain that sort of national exposure. In addition, last year’s winner, Bob the Drag Queen is not eligible to win in consecutive years

I also need to add that on a personal level that this list was literally impossible to narrow down to ten queens. I got into the forties listing worthy queens before I had to stop or run the risk of a (another) nervous breakdown. There are going to be incredibly worthy queens left off this list and there is invariably going to be some personal bias in this although I’ve done my best to minimize it. There is no shade aimed at one who didn’t make this list….well, except for that one bitch! You know who you are! *wink*

Also, special thanks go out to our friends over at Jenn Witek Photography for sponsoring this award! We are very excited to announce that the winner of this category will get the opportunity to be photographed by Jenn for a future piece here on WERRRK.com Check them out here!
