So You Think You Can Drag Finalist: Alexis Michelle

Question: Condragulations Alexis on making the top five of So You Think You Can Drag! Have you had a moment to reflect on what you have accomplished already yet?

Alexis Michelle: It’s been the craziest roller coaster ride! Two months of challenges flew by but when you look back on all that work, it seems like an extraordinary amount of time.

Question: What do you think was your highlight and lowlight of the season so far?

AM: hard not to acknowledge Broadway/Disney week as a highlight. I performed The Witch’s Rap from INTO THE WOODS which was the first Broadway show I ever saw, and what made me want to be an actor, so that was a dream come true, and the costume reveal I planned went off without a hitch. That was my first win in the competition and it’s a real point of pride for me that I won the Broadway challenge. The various videos of the performance have exceeded 100,000 views and has given me a new visibility that I’m hugely grateful for. Getting to perform as Adelaide during Pageant week was a close second.

I’d say the lowest point was heading into Halloween week I started to feel the pressure of the competition and got in my head and started to question my choices. But I’m feeling reinvigorated, excited and focused for the finale!

Question: How would you describe your experience on SYTYCD? What was it like to work with Paige, Chelsea and all other guests that have come through?

This has been the most incredible ride. I’m so happy to have made new connections and deepened old friendships. Chelsea has been the best mentor, a constant source of support, and I’m honored to call her my friend. I’m a little sad that Paige and I haven’t crossed paths sooner, because I feel a true kinship with her and have been so impressed with her star quality and talent. I’m forever grateful to her for believing in me and having me in the competition.

Question: So without spoiling anything, what can we expect from you in the finale?

AM: You can expect production value, theatrics, quintessential Alexis Michelle, and something a little different from my usual repertoire.

Question: Best of luck on the 13th Alexis! Any you want to plug before we wrap up?

AM: Follow me on Twitter and Instagram. Check out my Wednesday night show SUPERWOMAN with Schwa De Vivre at The West End. I have some exciting collaborations with Dusty Ray Bottoms and Brita Filter in the works and stay tuned for my new show at New World Stages…ummm…I mean…”gulp”!
