True Blood –
I Found You

Guys, sorry for the delay on this review, the last little while has been a super gay time for me, but enough about the first five minutes of this week’s episode.

…actually, no…let’s talk a bit more about it.

It was Pride weekend and the powers that be gave the gays Jason Stackhouse/Eric action. Naturally, it was a giant tease but I wanna believe that was a total nod to those celebrating Pride.

This week’s episode had some stuff that was for sure interesting. I think my absolute favorite moment was Lettie Mae and Lafayette. Those two actors killed that scene and brought it back to life at the same time. Two people who loved the fallen Tara and hate each other building a well acted, perfectly paced scene to an masterfully executed crescendo.

On the other hand, we still do not know the motivation of the infected vamps, it isn’t making sense, we need to get a motivation behind them or it’s gonna fall apart real soon. That said it seems like the villain might not be them but rather the townspeople themselves.

I enjoyed the group going to look around the town of Saint Alice, but it did highlight the soap opera stuff at a time it didn’t seem right too. It felt like the mystery of the Hep V vamps played second fiddle to the Bill/Sookie love story, a better balance woulda been nice.

The strongest conflict of this season did pop up at the end when Pam found Eric and found him infected. The stakes getting higher like this do make for a more interesting conflict since it continues the trend of focusing on who the audience cares about.

In summation, I Found You, has told us:

“HBO might have Looking, but True Blood is still their gayest show. Sam is either a good mayor or terrible soon-to-be father. Turns out Arlene is supernatural, her power is ‘Self-Awareness.’ Lafayette is once again the show’s MVP…Lettie Mae’s V hallucinations are not. Ya can’t blame Kenya. The villain of this season is still the TEA Party agenda. Bill had really bad hair in season one…and the wig replica in season seven is worse. Arlene has apparently NOT been through enough. No one saunters quite like Pam. We need the extended, unrated version of the first five minutes.”
One thing I have always loved about True Blood is you never quite know what you are going to get when it comes on. One thing I have always hated about True Blood is…that you never quite know what you are going to get when it comes on. This episode was a solid epitome of that. We are two episodes in and it’s still fifty fifty, I’m hoping soon we get a shift in balance for the better.
