Call your girlfriend, because one of Spencer’s favorite artists was in town! This summer, Robyn and the famous Norwegian electronic music duo Röyksopp took their new collaboration album “Do It Again” and went on tour across the world! This past week Robyn and Röyksopp were in Los Angeles set to perform at the famous Hollywood Bowl as well as a special performance at the local late night Jimmy Kimmel show! Fortunately, Spencer was able to make it to both of her performances and he is more than excited to share all about it with you! No more dancing on your own fembots, because Spencer’s Spotlight is back!

Hollywood Bowl
I had so much fun these past couple days, I just couldn’t wait to talk to you guys all about it! The first event was the Hollywood Bowl! I took my wonderful girlfriend with me up to Hollywood and made the climb up to the Hollywood Bowl. Yes, I know there are shuttles… but I enjoy the fresh polluted air so leave me alone. Then we met up with one of my dear friends, you all know her, the one and only Meagan! Your #NS4W Senior Fangirl Correspondent! It was so lovely catching up with her. We made it just in time to our seats so we can catch the opening act walk onto the stage. The opening was the lovely Zhala, a “cosmic pop” artist signed under queen Robyn herself. Her set was one of the most fun things I have ever watched. The way Zhala feels the music… it was really a beautiful thing. True art was in the making. I will definitely be obsessing over her for a while. Zhala lets be friends and do an interview or something!!
After Zhala wowed the crowd, we sat and waited for what seemed like hours. The anticipation was real! Then suddenly, movement on the stage was happening. It was time for Röyksopp to take the stage. Their set was electrifying! The symphonies were just beautiful. What I loved about it was the way they opened their set, the music was so pleasant sounding and really just left an energy that felt so positive and relaxing. But then, Röyksopp turned up the heat and started dropping some of their signature sounds.

After Röyksopp finished their set, they quietly disappeared off the stage and the spotlight shined down… There she was, Robyn. She looked so amazing. She started off her set with “Never Will Be Mine”. I can’t tell you how loud I screamed those lyrics! I was so happy! Robyn then continued to do a bunch of songs including “Dancing on my Own”, “With Every Heartbeat”, “Stars 4 Ever”, “Indestrucible”, and my favorite “Call Your Girlfriend”. It was such an emotional time! I screamed every song like it was my last night on this Earth.

After Robyn finished, Röyksopp took back to the stage and they finished out the night with their collaboration album, “Do It Again”. They work so well together, it was just one of the most fun things I have been to witness! They did favorites such as “Do It Again”, “Say It”, “Monument”, and and older song known as “The Girl and the Robot”. The show came to a close and sadly we had to leave the bowl. But nothing to fear because I knew the next day, I was going to “Do It Again”…. get it… Do it… okay you get it.
The Jimmy Kimmel Show
The next day my friend Cristian and I went back to Hollywood and headed to the parking lot behind the Jimmy Kimmel studios. The excitement was killing me! Or… was that the blazing sun.. I’m not sure but it didn’t matter, I was going to see Robyn up close and personnel. Cristian and I got lost at first and almost ended up in Melissa Mcarthy’s dressing up but fortunately we ran into a certain someone who gave us directions… Wait for it….RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 5…. only one of the coolest queens in the game… DETOOOOOOOOX (I like to read her name in Vicky Vox’s voice after that genius instagram video). He was such a nice guy and I was so happy to finally meet him!
We got to hang out in line with a bunch of cool people! Robyn fans are seriously the nicest people. Shout out to all of those people.. you guys were the coolest and had me laughing the whole time, I followed all of them on Instagram I believe, but I can’t wait until next time! So anyways, we are waiting in line and of course another special person made an appearance, SIster Indica!! I finally got to meet the #NSFW Senior Nunsense Correspondent! Of course we clicked instantly and she gave me some real insight on how to properly mug the camera via selfie. I hope to master the art like Indica has. Here is a picture of me with both of my #NSFW pals, Meagan and Sister Indica!

While we were waiting in line, we could hear the queen on the other side of the fence doing her sound-checks.. We were FREAKING out! She sounded so good! Once security came, they started separating us by ticket class. Fortunately for me, I might of knew some people on the inside and I got to the front of the line…awkwardly in front of the nice group we met which was not apart of the plan but…things happen I guess. So Cristian and I run in and we are up against the barricade closest to the stage. You can NOT get any closer. We were that close. After waiting patiently for hours, she finally came out. The crowd was WILD! Robyn and Röyksopp did all of the songs off of their new “Do It Again” album.

Robyn and Röyksopp gave an amazing performance and I will never forget that day! Being so close to her was a gift in itself. Robyn is an amazing performer and a great soul. I cannot wait for her to come back to California. I give this tour and album a 10/10. I wouldn’t change a thing. Everything about the album, the set-list, the costumes, the opening act Zhala, the lights, just… everything was perfect. Thank you to all that were apart of the past two amazing days!
