Question: Hi Kelly! How are you doing this evening? Have you sufficiently recovered from Drag Race or are you going to be traumatized by bacon for the rest of your natural days?
A: Isn’t it ironic?! I got sent home for wearing the bacon…and now, I’m bringing home the bacon!
Question: How have things changed for you since the show in terms of how the fans react to you and perceive you?
A: The fans have been awesome! They rock! I think my song and video “Eliminated” really helped to break the ice and let them see I have a sense of humor about it all. And fortunately, I already had a lot of showbiz credits before Drag Race, so the new fans from the show are getting to see that side of me instead of just the one episode of RPDR. Most of them tell me they feel like I was robbed by being sent home first, but we can laugh about it. I’m having a blast traveling and performing from gig to gig and meeting them all.

Question: Was “Eliminated” an idea you had for a song before you were on the show or did come to you after you were, well, eliminated?
A: HA! Well it definitely wasn’t an idea I had before the show! But I’m a true show pony so my show must go on. I put all my life experiences to music, and this one was no different. I write what I lived, and I live what I write.
Question: What does it mean to you to get a chance to come to the city that your uncle once (figuratively) owned and getting a chance to perform at a venue like the Beechman Theatre? (We’ll pause while those of you in the NY tri-state area go get your tickets if you haven’t already)
A: Yes! Go to www.spincyclenyc.com to get your tickets to see the debut of my new solo show, “Don’t You Know Who I Think I Am?”, at the Laurie Beechman Theatre in NYC. Two Nights Only! This coming Friday July 25 & Saturday July 26th. Show time is 7:30 p.m.
I’m so jazzed to be performing for the first time at the Beechman. Producer Chip Duckett and Ron Lasko of Spin Cycle are magic makers. I was just in NYC for a gig on the 4th of July, and had the chance to stop by the Beechman to see Joan Rivers perform. I got to meet her before the show. When I walked into her dressing room, she looked up and said, “Thank God you’re not wearing the bacon!” Haha! I kid you not! So it’s awesome to be sharing the same stage with so many of my favorites. And yes, what a thrill to be performing in Uncle Mickey’s city! I’m hoping for a grand slam!
Question: For the people shelling out the big bucks to see you there, what can they expect?
A: An inebriated evening of singing and dancing and f*cked up comedy! I”ll be spilling tea and twisted tales about RuPaul’s Drag Race, my whacked out one on one with Shia LaBeouf, and my T about the T in LGBT among other surprises.
Question: What does the future hold for Kelly Mantle? Is there anything on your bucket list that you still want to accomplish?
A: Oh hell yeah. My bucket list is always half full. I’ve got a few more movies and new music coming out this year/next year. I’m continuing to tour. And I’m taking dance classes to brush up on my dance skillz. Who knows, you might see me doin’ death drops pretty soon! winks
Question: Thank you so much for your time Kelly. Do you have any final words of wisdom to share?
Yes! WEAR BACON! It worked out for me!
