Welcome to NotSafe4Werk.com’s Marvel Week, our loving tribute to the company that dominating the box office like no other! Chiffon is counting down her top 25 characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! Agree or disagree, let us know who you think should be included! Enjoy and excelsior!
Warning: Potential spoilers abound for The Avengers, Iron Man 1-2, Captain America 1-2, Thor 1-2. The Incredible Hulk and the Guardians of the Galaxy!
25: Thanos
Appearances: The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy
Aside from a few short appearances, the Mad Titan hasn’t done much yet in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but given the epic story they’ve been setting up with him at the center, Thanos is clearly poised to be one of the most important characters in these films! I can’t want to see what Josh Brolin brings to a character that could very well become one of the biggest movie villains of all time.
24: Senator Sterns
Appearances: Iron Man 2, Captain American: The Winter Solider
The great Garry Shandling plays the unlikable Senator Sterns to perfection, playing the ideal bureaucratic foil to Tony Stark. He would have made the list just for the line he had after accidentally poking Tony with the medal he was presenting him, ” Ooh, sorry… funny how annoying a little prick can be, isn’t it?” but then the reveal in Captain America: The Winter Solider that he was a member of Hydra….just perfect.
23: Maria Hill
Appearances: The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Solider, Agents of SHIELD (TV show), The Avengers: Age of Ultron
Marvel has had no problem showing that women can be badasses too and Maria Hill of SHIELD is certainly a badass. Plus, her appearance in The Avengers spawned this meme which basically guaranteed her a spot on my list.
22: Justin Hammer
Appearances: Iron Man 2, All Hail the King (One Shot)
God, what a sniveling little worm this character was! Sam Rockwell deserves more credit than he received for his wonderful portrayal of the weaselly arms dealer that was so desperate for Tony Stark’s approval. Add to that to a cameo appearance as a prison bitch in the Mandarin focused Marvel One Shot, All Hail the King and there was no way for me to leave Hammer off this list!
21: Peggy Carter
Appearances: Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain American: The Winter Soldier, Agent Carter (One Shot), Agent Carter (TV show)
Far more than just Captain America’s girlfriend, Peggy Carter has been fleshed out as a major historical character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In addition to helping Cap defeat the Red Skull, Agent Carter was one of the founding members of SHIELD, an ally of Tony Stark’s father Howard and a no-nonsense, ass-kicking woman in a time when women were supposed to be seen and not heard.
