10: Rocket
Appearances: Guardians of the Galaxy
So for those of you keeping track at home, DC as of yet still hasn’t managed to bring Wonder Woman, arguably one of the five biggest superheroes ever, to the bring screen yet, and Marvel got Bradley Cooper to voice a genetically modified, ultra-violent space raccoon that everyone loved in one of the biggest smash hits of 2014. Yeah, Rocket Raccoon kicks ass. Period.
9: Nick Fury
Appearances: Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain American: The First Avenger, The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron
He’s been the glue of the Marvel Cinematic Universe but the fact remains, until I hear, “I’m Nick Fury bitch!” in full Samuel L. Jackson glory, I’m not moving him any higher than this.
8. The Hulk
Appearances: The Incredible Hulk, The Avengers, Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron
Who doesn’t like the Hulk? Hulk smash! While Edward Norton’s near-perfect portrayal of Bruce Banner is missed, the big green guy remains massively popular and it seems like another future solo film is just a matter of time!
Oh….and there was this too……
7: Star-Lord
Appearances: Guardians of the Galaxy
I know what you’re thinking….who? Come on man! Star-Lord? Legendary outlaw? Forget it! But come on, banking the lead role in your least recognizable film to date on the pudgy fifth lead on NBC’s “Parks and Rec”, Marvel has got balls the size of grapefruits. Oh and Chris Pratt KILLED it! People enjoyed him without his shirt on too.
6: Agent Phil Coulson
Appearances: Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, The Avengers, The Consultant (One Shot), A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor’s Hammer (One Shot), Agents of SHIELD (TV series)
Probably the most human of characters (well, at least until recently) in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe, his everyman persona is precisely the reason why Clark Gregg’s wonderful portrayal of Agent Phil Coulson resonates so strongly with the movie-going audience. The loss the fans felt when he fell at the hands of Loki was very real and even though he was brought back to life for Agents of SHIELD, Agent Coulson remains one of the cornerstones of the MCU!
