“Who so ever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.” In addition to being number five on my list, Thor remains the Avenger most likely to be ogled by our own Poppy Fields! Sure he can be a bit dense but the God of Thunder kicks butt and looks good doing it!

4: Black Widow

Appearances: Iron Man 2, The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron

The Black Widow is certainly no damsel in distress that the rest of the Avengers need to rescue. Her brilliant interrogation of Loki in The Avengers where she tricks the God of Mischief into revealing his plans shows that Agent Romanoff is brains, beauty and brawn all in one devious package.

3. Captain America

Appearances: Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Avengers: Age of Ultron

Captain America Winter Soldier

On a team with a monster, a god, two trained assassins and a billionaire in a super power suit of armor, the man displaced in time, armed only with a shield is still the unquestioned leader of the team. And its not just super heroes that fall in line behind Cap, everyone else does as a well. Case in point….

2: Iron Man

Appearances: Iron Man, Iron Man 2, The Avengers, Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age of Ultron, The Consultant (One Shot)

Iron Man

Let’s face the facts. Tony Stark is the reason we’re all here. If Iron Man had been a flop, there is a chance that this amazing Marvel Cinematic Universe never would have gotten off the ground. Robert Downey Jr. didn’t just crush the role of Iron Man, he IS Iron Man! To that, we owe him a huge debt of gratitude. What I can’t give him however is the number one spot on this list because it goes to……..

1: Loki

Appearances: Thor, The Avengers, Thor 2: The Dark World

What can I say? Loki is hands down the best character in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe. I would watch a solo Loki movie in a second. His screen presence, humor and charisma are off the charts as is Tom Hiddleston’s palpable sheer joy in playing the character. Don’t believe me, check out his surprise, in-character appearance at Comic-Con ’13! Now if only Joss Whedon can find a way to fit him into Age of Ultron…..
