Episode Four: Spoof
Welcome back everybody. I’ve taken several Midols so I’m a much better place than I was last week and I’m ready to get back to some fun recapping. I mean, it’s not like Ru is going to make the worst decision tonight that she’s made since sending Pandora Boxx home on a challenge she rightfully won back in season two, right? Haha, no chance of something that ridiculous happening I’m sure!
So we start with this week’s mini-challenge, each girl was given a turtle that they had to dress up in sequins, glitter and teeny tiny wigs to resemble their signature drag look. Then they had the turtles race across the workroom floor and the swiftest turtle earned her queen a year’s supply of Elmer’s Glue Sticks. I totally made this up and in hindsight, I probably shouldn’t give them any ideas. In reality, they didn’t have a mini challenge because the main challenge was so big! The divided up into three teams and shocker of shockers, Violet Chachki was picked last AGAIN! Who saw that coming aside from anyone who saw the script?
Our fearless heroines were tasked with creating and performing musical parodies of some of RuPaul’s biggest hits because a huge part of being a drag queen is doing Weird Al Yankovic‘s job. Sigh.
So there was totally some seventeen year old white girl who just can’t drama on Team Katya-Pearl-Fame-Trixie while during the vocal performance on Team Ginger-Kasha-Kandy-Kennedy, Mrs. Kasha Davis’ had some issues…..
“Ethel Merman and Paul Lynde had a love child bursting forth from Kasha’s vocal cords” – Ginger Minj
Try to get that bit of imagery out of your head for the rest of the day. So fast forwarding to the runway, probably the most memorable look was Pearl’s dead on take of former G.I. Joe arch-nemesis Serpentor!
I might have been a little off on that one. It’s been a long night. So anyway, the parody videos air and Katya, Kennedy and Jaidynn are recognized for their excellent work on their teams with Kennedy being named the winner of the challenge. On the other end of the spectrum, Ru called out Trixie, Kandy and Pearl for being the weakest links on their squads and before long, Trixie and Pearl are forced to lip sync for the lives to the tune of “Dreaming” by Blondie. The two exchange wistful glances.
And lip synch they did! Trixie turned it out and despite being a bit high energy for the song, she pretty handily defeated Pearl who emerged from her comatose state to deliver a respectable effort of her own.
So Pearl sashays away and Trixie seems to have narrowly avoided disast…..wait, what did Ru just say?? Seriously? Pearl is staying and Trixie is going home? I guess the Uniqueness portion of the Charisma, Uniqueness, Nerve and Talent mantra is out the window. Even Pearl seemed shocked.
So the interwebs broke out their digital torches and pitchforks. I’m not sure it’s a good sign when this is all over Twitter within minutes of the show ending….
Yeah, probably not a great sign for your decision. Be sure to vote in our poll for who you think will win this season. Last week you picked Max for the win, followed closely by Ginger and…..sigh, Trixie. Who moved the needle this week? Also if you’re on the east coast be sure to join us each week immediately after the show in the NotSafe4Werk Post Race Show to chat with other Drag Race fans about what just went down on the main stage! Plus, be sure to check out the debut of ELIMINATION TRANSFORMATION with Jamie-Lynn as she transforms into Jasmine Masters right here. Until next week, remember to have your drag queens neutered and spayed.
