Episode Six : Ru Hollywood Stories
Hello, hello, hellooooooo everyone and welcome to another edition of the Daily Show with Chiffon Dior. That has a nice ring to it. Comedy Central, call me! In reality though, this is Talking Drag Race with Chiffon Dior. Of all the RuPaul’s Drag Race recaps out there, this is definitely one of them. So this season’s mini challenges have been a trainwreck for the most part but last week’s paper dress challenge was fabulous! Can we make it two weeks in a row of quality mini challenges? Yeah, I didn’t think so either. The mini challenge was “Pocket Monsters” and it wasn’t even as a subtle as you immediately envisioned it would be.
The Pit Crew comes out in their undies and they have tokens in their shorts that have either a number or a pocket monster on them. The goal was to keep getting numbers without hitting a pocket monster which would end your turn. I was told there would be no math but I believe the highest score wins. I’m actually a little disgusted with myself for actually understanding the rules to this bizarro world version of the old 80’s game show Press Your Luck.

So I, um….totally read about that show on Wikipedia. I’m certainly too young to have watched it incessantly when I was growing up during summer break. Anyway, Ginger wins the challenge and gets to pick the teams for the main challenge, “The Ru Hollywood Stories” aka yet another acting challenge. She picks Kennedy Davenport and Katya for her team and assigns Miss Fame, Pearl, and Jaidynn Diore Fierce to one team and Violet, Kandy Ho, and Max to the other. Violet may have been right when she said there were too many acting challenges this season. It’s almost enough to make me feel bad for her. Almost.

So the premise of this challenge is to tell the story of former judge Merle Ginsburg’s disappearance after Season 2 of Drag Race, when she was unceremoniously replaced by Michelle Visage (Good move Ru) from the perspectives of Merle, Ru and Michelle. The teams get down to work and as always, Katya is a Chersend when it comes to amazing quotes.
“She’s playing it like Ginger Minj….as Danny Devito….as Tony Soprano….as the Fonz….as Michelle Visage” – Katya
Seriously, I don’t know what I would do without Katya. This may not sound like a compliment but to me she’s the Khloe Kardashian of this show, meaning that on a weekly basis, she’s the one I least want to hit in the face with a frying pan.
The teams head off to rehearse their scenes in front of Ross Matthews who is about as unintimidating as it gets on this show but Miss Fame still managed to have a dramatic mini-meltdown. Plus there were no endearing stories about chickens this week either so it was a real lose-lose. To be honest, the best acting we’d see all night was Michelle Visage pretending there was heat with her and Merle.

Then it was off to the main stage for the Death Becomes Her runway challenge, where each gal had to dress in a way that would represent how they will die. My look for this challenge would have been to just lay dead on the ground, having overdosed on multiple pints of Haagen Dasz.
Special Guest Judge, Ariana Venti said that being there was the “Best night of her life!”. Come on, she’s like nine! The third best night of her life was when she got ten bucks from the Tooth Fairy a few weeks back. Proving that there is justice in the world, Katya is named the winner and at least for one week, Ru doesn’t anger anyone with her bottom two this week, Kandy Ho and Jaidynn Dior Fierce. Side note: This week Jaidynn broke down in the work room while she was talking about her family not accepting her for who she is. No snark from me, just lots of hugs baby!
So Kandy and Jaidynn were forced to lip synch for their lives to “Break Free” by Ariana Trenta, who ironically enough was sitting right in front of them. No pressure there ladies! It was yet another really close lip synch but in the end Jaidynn pulled out the victory as Kandy was forced to sashay away. We’re down to our final eight and the best news is that next week we finally get Snatch Game! Yasssssss!
Be sure to vote in our poll for who you think will win this season. Last week Katya took a commanding lead in our vote, followed by Ginger and Max! Who moved the needle this week? Also if you’re on the east coast be sure to join us each week immediately after the show in the NotSafe4Werk Post Race Show to chat with other Drag Race fans about what just went down on the main stage! Plus, be sure to check out the latest episode of ELIMINATION TRANSFORMATION with Jamie-Lynn as she transforms into Mrs. Kasha Davis right here. Until next week, remember to have your drag queens neutered and spayed.
