This year I have seen some amazing performers that I have always wanted to see. I visited the Forum so I could see the amazing reunited Fleetwood Mac. I went up to Club Nokia and danced to Azealia Banks and Lolawolf. But last night, I witnessed a performance I will never forget. This year the Endless Summer Tour of Lana Del Rey and her special guest, Courtney Love, made a stop at the beautiful Hollywood Bowl. When the concert was announced, I knew I had to be there and I got tickets as soon as possible. So let me give you a little bit of insight on how the concert went down!
The Bowl was alive last night with people from all over. The crowd kind of resembled a bad version of Coachella with the amount of American Flag themed outfits and flower crowns, just a lot of people who were probably still in high school, which was a tad bit irritating. But whatever, I am here to see Lana and I wasn’t going to let the cast of High School Musical get in my way. My friend and I had separate seats because the tickets sold out so fast but I still sneaked over and squeezed next to her…I felt terrible at first until I realized the persons seat I took actually brought a friend to sneak over as well so…we were even.
Behind me, these high school girls were all, “When is Courtney coming out… Who the fuck is that anyways?”… I could not believe the words I heard. For those of you that don’t know, Courtney Love is a rock goddess who has been performing for years and ended up marrying a very famous man known as Kurt Cobain who was in a little band called Nirvana. She has been a active mainstream performer for years earning Grammy nominations and is also a huge LGBT supporter. Children please.
Courtney came out with her band and she was so full of excitement. She took center stage with a guitar in hand and began to fill the Hollywood Hills with vocals, screams, and curse words! She performed songs such as “Miss Narcissist”, songs from her old band “Hole” such as “Miss World”, “Asking For It”, “Plump”, and she even did a cover of my dear Fleetwood Mac’s “Gold Dust Woman”!

Courtney Love was absolutely killer and proved to the world that is not going anywhere and is still one of rock’s top leading females. I bow down to her.
We then went into a short break where the lights turned on, and our phones began to die after we snapchatted and recorded every second of Courtney’s set as per usual. But the fog machines eventually kicked on and the lights dimmed to a cool blue. On stage was a city set with city lights on the screen behind the band… Lana was coming out.
Finally, our lord and savior Lana Del Rey took to the stage. She walked out so very gracefully in a all-white dress looking as beautiful as ever. Her first words were along to the song “Cruel World”. The crowd was in awe to be in the presence of such a perfect angel.
She spoke so softly to the crowd, telling us she is so happy to be here and she is so thankful. Lana took to the crowd and walked around the stage touching peoples hands and taking selfies with them. The jealousy was SO REAL at this moment. But I had to remind myself that that will be me someday…right?

Lana performed fan favorites such as “Cola”, “Blue Jeans”, “Ultraviolence, “Summertime Sadness” and she even did a few covers such as “Chelesea Hotel No. ” by Leonard Cohen. But my favorites she performed last night were of course “Video Games”, “Born To Die”, “Brooklyn Baby”, and “Shades of Cool”. Each one of these songs were just so beautiful and it was such a pleasure to hear them live and in person. Her voice sounds just as amazing as it does in the studio version, if not better! She can hit all of those notes you hear on her album, it is real! Lana Del Rey electrified the night as her beauty and voice echoed through the Hollywood Hills, cementing her place as one of the worlds most special jewels in music. Seeing Lana back in her hometown on the west coast was such a treat and I will never forget it. She closed out the show with “Off to the Races” which was a great song to close out to. When she finished, she grabbed all of her flowers that were given to her and simply left. She didn’t perform an encore which kind of surprised me but I can’t be mad at her!
It was an amazing concert. I wish that Lana would have performed “Yayo” and “Young and Beautiful” but its alright. It was still so much fun and she performed so many other great songs! I also wish the Hollywood Bowl had a bit more alcohol choices for people under 21 but what can you do.
I had so much fun last night and I hope you had fun reading about it. Until next time Not Safe 4 Werkers!
