Penny For Your Thoughts: Above the Vaulted Sky

Welcome back to another edition of “Penny For Your Thoughts”, a weekly recap of Showtime’s Penny Dreadful! This episode was definitely interesting but also very useless. I mean come on lets be real here, this episode was basically some old Victorian age porn filmed for color television. Lets talk about it.

By far one of the craziest parts of this episode was when we got to see how Evelyn uses her witchcraft voodoo dolls. All I can say is, Angela Basset couldn’t pull off this form of voodoo. We watched Sir Malcolm’s wife go from a peaceful sleep to her foaming at the mouth, screaming uncontrollably, seeing a vision of her dead children which lead her to slitting her wrist… Well that was stressful…

We had the privilege of witnessing another poetic conversation between the Frankenstein Monster and Vanessa in the soup kitchen… I would tell you what they were talking about but I truthfully wasn’t listening. Listening to the Monster is kind of like listening to an audio book read by  your eighty-five year old economy teacher. It just drags on for hours and its almost impossible to fight off sleep.

Ethan Chandler was interviewed by a investigator. Ethan… they are on to you… Then as Ethan returned to home base, we see the man that Ethan messed up is stalking him. Oh dear. This will be bad for sure.

Other than that, the rest of the episode was a dramatic porn. Dorian and his boyfriend went out and we witnessed some sad gay hate crimes which led to Angelique letting it all hang out as a pretty regular guy. Minutes later they were having the most heated sex scene since The High Sparrow started throwing gays in jail on The Game of Thrones. Shortly after, Sir Malcolm and Evelyn Poole were getting it on. Evelyn used her sharp ring to get some of his blood. We don’t know why but im sure will. HEATED SEX SCENE. Then it gets worse! Lilly is scared of lightning and runs to Frankenstein and stays in bed with him. Because she is “scared” Next thing you know, more sex. This scene in particular felt wrong because she and Ethan were suppose to be thing as well as with the monster and just… oh boy.

So from this episode we learned that the Victorian age was a time of utmost horny-ness.  Everyone get off of each other! I will see you all next week hopefully with more material to talk about and not who had the best sex scene…
