In honor of the VMA’s this weekend, I thought it would be fun to share with you my five favorite music videos in a new edition of Spencer’s Spotlight. Music videos are so much fun because they are an artists way of showing their creative meaning behind the music. A music video can tie in together everything the artist is trying to say and I love it. So without further blabbing, let me break down my favorites and in no particular order because I am not about to pick a all-time right now.
Robyn – Call Your Girlfriend

Call Your Girlfriend is a brilliant music video by Robyn. The art direction of this video is so great. This video shows Robyn dancing around a hanger of some sort in the most perfect outfit. Robyn just feels the song and lets the lyrics flow through her body as though her limbs are telling the story. Robyn deserves all of the awards for this video to be honest.
FKA Twigs – M3LL155X

Now if you are one of my biggest fans you probably read my recent article (check it out here!) where I went into full detail on FKA Twig’s new music video, M3LL155X. This video is a compilation of four songs from FKA’s new EP. This video is beautiful from beginning to end. I mean visually this video is so creative you could watch this on mute if you wanted to. The choreography, the outfits, the energy. It’s perfect from beginning to end.
Stevie Nicks – I Can’t Wait

I Can’t Wait is a timeless treasure from the 80’s. This video is honestly so visually appealing to me. Everything is right from the hair, the color scheme, to the choreography. As you can tell, minimalism is probably one of my favorite trends that you can see in a music video such as this one and “Call Your Girlfriend” like I mentioned above. Stevie Nicks, you are amazing and I want to watch this video on my death bed.
Sia – Big Girls Cry

This video by Sia is a true treasure. Big Girls Cry is a simple video focused on Maddie Ziegler doing a beautiful set of choreography. I love this video because the acting of Maddie is so simple which lets the audience focus on the message and vocals of Sia’s mind. Sia is fire and this song really just grabs at your heart. I can watch it over and over again!
Lady Gaga – Marry The Night

Marry The Night is an amazing video and it actually means a lot to me. Lady Gaga tells a very emotional story about her life prior to being a pop star. This video really gives me hope as a person because we all want to know that we are going to be successful one day even through all of the dark times. This video is a artistic interpretation of surviving the dark place and never loosing sight of your goals hoping one day be who you want to be.
There you have it! Those five videos are certainly my favorite music videos. Maybe you agree with them, maybe you don’t but fire up the comments and let me know what your favorite music video is! Also, don’t forget to watch the Video Music Awards this weekend on MTV to see which video is voted for Video of the Year!
