The Miss NotSafe4Werk.com 2015 pageant was in full swing this season. Staying true to its reputation as the first and best online drag pageant, audiences were impressed by the wit and talent of every queen to grace the online stage. Through Cosplay, celebrity impersonations, and evening gowns… we got to know our queens by their portrayal of their characters on the screen. But wouldn’t it be great if Not Safe 4 Werk got to sit down with each of the queens individually and get some one-on-one time? Guess what, we did! Cher B. LaWealth reigns from the magical land of Kentucky. Through this competition, Cher handled herself with elegance and poise. Week after week, Cher entertained and proved herself to be a valid competitor in this pageant. But who is Cher B. LaWealth? Well, she is here with me right now so lets ask her!
Spencer: Cher B. LaWealth, I am so happy to have you here today. I know life must be chaotic with you currently with the end of the pageant on top of life and your shows. How are you my dear?
Cher: Thank you for having me Spencer. I’m doing pretty well today, how are you?
Spencer: I am doing just marvelous! Thank you for asking. So I have you here today so we can get to know the beauty queen that is Cher B. La Wealth… So tell me how would you describe Cher B. LaWealth?
Cher: Cher LaWealth is very energetic, loving, caring, and supporting of others and is always willing to help others! I’m an elegant queen. My style is more of country and pop mixed together. But I also enjoy loving ballad songs and portraying the emotions of the music I can connect with my audience.
Spencer: You have a very interesting aesthetic and I love it. Now I must admit, I have not met many drag queens from Kentucky. But of course, the art is everywhere and is expressed in different ways around the globe. What is the drag scene like in Kentucky?
Cher: Being a drag queen in Kentucky is great. There are several locations to perform at in less than a two hour drive! Even though there are so many opportunities, it does take a lot of passion, dedication and time to make it out here. Knowing people around the area is a good thing too as well.
Spencer: Wow I would never have guessed that. It makes me happy to see that you have been given such a platform for you to be yourself. Is drag an art form in your eyes or rather just a hobby?
Cher: Drag is both an art form and a hobby to me. Anyone who dedicates their time to do drag has some type of talent or passion for this! Drag takes an awful lot of time; so, dedication is the key!
Spencer: Of course. I mean there is so much that goes into your art. A lot of people assume you just throw on a wig and lip sync some Taylor Swift lyrics. But there is so much dedication that goes into drag; it is borderline insane. I think a great and current example would be the Miss Not Safe 4 Werk 2015 pageant. You were tasked with one video submission a week and we both know how much work that was. How was your experience during the Miss NotSafe4Werk.com 2015 pageant?
Cher: The experience during the Miss NotSafe4Werk.com pageant was definitely worthy of my time. Not only are you dedicated to the weekly pageant challenges, but you’re constantly doing things on the side. You are constantly adding music to videos, learning makeup, editing your videos, to even learning how to change your background!
Spencer: Would you consider the Miss NotSafe4Werk.com 2015 pageant a learning experience? Would you have done anything differently??
Cher: Everything with drag is a learning experience, no matter what it is. Whether it be from a show to a pageant. Anything to me is worthy of learning. No, I wouldn’t change anything about this experience. I live with a saying, “Whatever is meant to happen, it will.” You can only be yourself! That’s the way to be!
Spencer: What a beautiful saying Cher. I am glad you took away so much from the pageant and I hope as you move forward you wear this experience as a trophy. You were an amazing competitor; but, I am sure you already knew that… Where do you hope to see yourself in the next ten years?
Cher: I see myself in the next ten years having a huge drag family. I have several goals along the way. To name a couple I want to own a business, specifically a bar. However, many of my wishes lead to my desire to reign in a national pageant! No certain one, just whichever one that wants me. I want to be an inspiring entertainer with a great reputation for many other performers. I want to be able to help and give back to the community.
Spencer: Cher when I see you, I see a rising pageant star and I know you are going to go far. The way you present yourself just reads pageant so I know that you definitely have what it takes. I cannot wait to see where your journey takes you. Good luck to you in the Miss NotSafe4Werk.com 2015 pageant. It was a pleasure speaking with you.
Cher: Thank you Spencer.
