Welcome to another #WEEKINDRAG! I was on holiday last week, so I’ll be recapping the past two weeks! Yay!
IT’S HERE. IT HAPPENED. IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. EPISODE 1 OF RUPAUL’S DRAG RACE!!!! I’m not even overreacting because this first episode was THAT GOOD. The entrances were spectacular (shout out to Acid Betty, Kim Chi and Derrick Barry especially), and it really showed the wide range of personalities and talent that we to look forward to this season. The photo challenge last week was with THE PREVIOUS WINNERS, where the fresh new queens had to try and stand out and feel themselves with all the Drag Race royalty (come though Naomi Smalls, Kim Chi and Derrick with this one). The main challenge left all the RPDR fans gagged, as queens were assigned challenges from past seasons (HELLO KITTY WAS BACK!). This runway was incredible, I was speechless. From the lack of sewing challenges in Season 7, this was runway was welcomed with opened arms in my opinion. The looks were incredible, with Acid Betty presenting an stunning look for the Money Ball, Dax’s adorable take on the Hello Kitty challenge, Bob’s detailed “Gone with the Window” dress, Thorgy’s adorable Red Velvet Cake look (shout out to Stacy Lane Matthews) and of course, the winner Kim Chi’s Hair Ball look that can only be described as so good that it snatched everyone’s weaves, literally. The bottom two lip sync was entertaining as always, but I won’t spoil it completely. Check the episode out on Logo! Congratulations Kim Chi!
Back in the #WEEKINDRAG news again, Adore Delano dropped her second album “AFTERPARTY” and released 2 videos for two new tracks, “Dynamite” and “Take Me There”. The album went to Number 1 on the iTunes dance charts in less than 5 minutes and is currently number 15 on the overall iTunes album charts! Party! Buy AFTERPARTY on iTunes here.
Congratulations are also due to Pearl this week! The enchanting queen announced that she is officially signed to legendary Wilhelmina Models! The company stated that not only is Pearl signed as a model, that the genius Matt behind Pearl is also signed as a hair and make-up artist. This is incredible news, as it means that Wilihelmina are now accepting drag models. Well done, Pearl!
New season favourite Bob The Drag Queen is not only incredibly hilarious, charming and talented, she’s also a pretty solid human being. Bob has set themselves the goal of raising $100k for charity this year! From selling Drag Race costumes on eBay to she’ll be touring shows to raise money. Kicking off the tour, she’ll be at Industry Bar on Tuesday March 22nd, joined by the Sherry Vine, Judy Darling, Monet X Change, and Miz Cracker. The show will benefit Trinity Place Shelter! You’re the best, Bob.
Finally, Mimi Imfurst has released an album! The record titling “Fire” is on sale now, with heavy electric guitar and rock influences! Congrats, Mimi.
