A Haute Second with Spencer: The 24th "Art of Motion Picture Costume Design" Exhibit 1

Hello everyone! Thank you for joining me once again for another Haute Second with Spencer! Today I am excited to share with all of my Los Angeles viewers a fun place to visit this month where you can take in the excitement of fashion and your favorite movies! The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) is once again putting on their annual Oscar inspired costume design exhibit at the FIDM Museum. Yes, I know it is well past Oscar season… but I am talking  over 100 outstanding costume designs from 23 films representing the past year in cinema!

What can you expect once you are at the museum? Well, how about costumes from movies like “Jem and the Holograms” “Brooklyn“, as well as the five Oscar nominated movies for costume design such as “The Danish Girl“, “Cinderella“, “Carol“, “The Revenant“, and winner of the 2016 Oscar for Costume Design, “Mad Max: Fury Road” by Jenny Beavan. If you are not yet convinced, I am not done. A group of costumes from Star Wars: The Force Awakens are currently on location… yes you heard me. If you pass up a chance to see the Kylo Ren costume in person,  you need a solid smack.

This is the 24th consecutive year that the FIDM Museum has put on the “Art of Motion Picture Costume Design” exhibit. It is Free to the public and visitors’ hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The exhibition closes Saturday, April 30, 2016 so make time soon! You can see all of these wonderful costumes at FIDM/ Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, 919 S. Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90015 (Corner of Grand Avenue & 9th Street).

This exhibit is very unique and you will never be able to find a museum such as this where you can find so many amazing costumes from such fun and current movies! I have had the privilege to tour many of the exhibitions at FIDM and let me just tell you, they are a ton of fun! If you miss this current exhibit, stay tuned because the museum also pays tribute each year to Emmy nominated costume designers in The Outstanding Art of Television Costume Design exhibition !
