Good Day Friends! It’s a pleasure to be back. I have a very special guest with me today. She is an accomplished musician, winner of multiple Glam, Odyssey, Get Out, and Brooklyn Nightlife awards, and a fierce competitor on the most recent season of RuPaul’s Drag Race… It’s Thorgy Thor everybody!
Spencer- Thorgy, thank you so much for taking the time to speak with me! I know how busy you must be. How has life been since the wrap of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Drag Con, and everything in between?
Thorgy- BUSY! I’ve been traveling the world and meeting tons of incredible people. I’ve auditioned for this show since season 1, so the exhaustion and work schedule was anticipated. I am not complaining! I love meeting fans of the show.
Speaking of fans, my apartment in New York in literally FILLED with amazing fan art from around the globe. I am going to post a P.O. Box address on my website shortly so fans can send whatever they want…. a locket of hair, death threats or a finger! On another note, the traveling has allowed me some time to jot down ideas for upcoming theater projects and short movies that I want to produce. Good things in the works!
Spencer- Ha! Be careful with what you wish for. You ask this website for a finger… and they will send you the whole hand! So lets talk about RuPaul’s Drag Race for a minute. I’m curious to know, are you happy with the way the show portrayed Thorgy?
Thorgy- Yes and no. My last episode left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth, only because I feel that’s not at all how things went down while filming. However, we are filming each episode for 48 hours. It has to be edited to validate whoever they send home, so I get why they did that. Overall, I couldn’t be more happy with how I was portrayed – I am a zany, smart artistic queen who really enjoys the art of drag… and I think that came across beautifully.
Spencer- I definitely agree. I think most of us would agree that you were one of the brighter, positive lights to grace this season. If you were to do it over again, would you do anything different?
Thorgy- Not a thing! I don’t regret anything I did on the show. The only thing the judges didn’t like is that I overthink things. And that I have TOO many ideas. Which I always felt was a good thing. Apparently not! I had a blast filming and made friends for life. I would do it again tomorrow!
Spencer- You can never have too many ideas. I still think your political video was freaking funny! But whatever I guess… In my opinion, it says a lot that you had too many ideas as opposed to not having any ideas at all which is slightly common on this show. Okay so lets say you were selected for a team based All-Stars season, who would your ideal partner be?
Thorgy- Well, automatically my brain starts thinking about how they would handle the eliminations. Even if we did well during a challenge, the judges would say “you both got along TOO well during the challenge so you’re both up for elimination”. Haha! I think I’d have a blast working with Naomi Smalls. I love that chick. Or how about Ginger Minj or Latrice! We would SLAY!
Spencer- Oh certainly! I think Ginger or maybe Trixie Mattel. That would be interesting! Going forward from Drag Race, I think one of the coolest things about Thorgy is the fact that you are a trained musician. Do you want to tell me a little about your musical roots?
Thorgy- Sure! I’ve been playing Violin since I was very young. My folks made sure to put me into every available extracurricular activity possible because I was a VERY energetic kid. A fact that few people know about me is that I was a competitive swimmer for years. I was very good, but hospitalized often for breathing problems. Turns out I’m allergic to Chlorine. So, my folks pumped me into every music related activity. I won awards and toured with orchestras and got a full scholarship to college. I play violin, viola and cello. I’ve owned my own company for about 10 years, booking players for over 60 events a year.
Now I want to conduct as Thorgy, leading the THORCHESTRA around the globe! Chartering a plane full of an 80 piece orchestra is quite expensive, so I’m planning on hiring local players in each city. It’s a big project of mine, that will most likely happen next year. Right now, i’m enjoying touring as Thorgy from Season 8 and getting to meet folks around the globe.

Spencer- First of all, the chlorine story is so sad, and a little humorous. The things we have to go through in life, i’m telling you… But this is all so great. I feel talent-less now. I know that you have talked about in the future, combining your talents as a Drag Queen and a musician. The Thorchestra. I think the idea is absolutely genius. Walk me through what your vision looks like?
Thorgy- I want to conduct a small 30 piece orchestra as THORGY! And have special guests like Joey Arias and Rufus Wainwright wheel out on the piano and sing while I conduct. Of course the fabulous drag element will be present while I talk to the audience, but how wonderful to then turn around and conduct Mendelssohn’s Midsummer Night’s Dream? It will be a nice combination of music fans and drag fans united in the audience! My whole life I’ve been a drag clown and a classical orchestral player. So, it’s time to combine those halves and take over the world. I’d also love to conduct or play with a string quartet during the finale of Season 9 with RuPaul singing, that would be f’ing incredible.

Thorgy- I try to find a way to enjoy every day. I also try and share that with everyone i meet. I’ve dealt with some hard issues in my life, so I’ve had to adapt. When I meet fans who are dealing with issues, I empathize. I really get it. It’s important for me to remember life moves in waves. In my experience, I find comfort knowing that when I’m doing great, there are obstacles coming my way to bring me down….. and when I’m in a sea of negative energy, there are great things coming my way. It’s important to remember that. I think many artistic people feel similarly.
We always want everything we do to be perfect and sometimes that takes time. I also think it’s important to make fun of yourself constantly and laugh out loud. To answer your question, when I’m stuck in a negative, stressful situation… I’ve found a way to laugh at how stressful it is- and make fun of the process. Nothing should drive you THAT crazy!
Thorgy- I love all of these photos that fans post on social media. Photos of me from 12 years ago when I started dressing up. I’ve always been the same person and have always known who i am and what i want. In 5 years, I’d love to look back and see that I’ve accomplished the following: Tour with the Thorchestra, publish and produce many short films that I’ve written over the years, and tour with my children’s theater show for adults. I have books filled with great ideas!

Spencer- That all honestly sounds like a walk in the park for you. It may take a while, but I know you will get there. With the recent tragic events in Orlando and throughout the world for the matter, are there any positive Thorgy thoughts you would like to share with the world?
Thorgy- Oh man. Orlando was such a tragedy. After such a horrific event, it’s important to all come together and heal. I think we did that as a world-wide community. I am very proud to be part of a world that reacts with such empathy.
Spencer- So now is the time. Do you have any upcoming ventures or events you would like to shamelessly plug?
Thorgy- MANY in the works. Pay attention to my social media- I MAY be doing a string works production in New York around Halloween (with one of the past Winners of Rupauls Drag Race!). And I’m hoping to do THORGY DOES CHRISTMAS, a 1-hour non stop show. Many things in the works!

Spencer- Thorgy, you are a real joy. I have had so much fun watching you and I am so excited to see where you go from here. Thank you for staying true to yourself and making us all laugh!
Thorgy- What a pleasure Spencer! Anytime! Thanks for asking intelligent questions! I will keep working because I don’t know anything else- it’s who i am!
