Cats – Acclaimed revival of a Broadway classic, reimagined with new choreography and a bright young cast. The opening of this family-friendly show means that Andrew Lloyd-Webber now has three shows on the Great White Way.
Dear Evan Hansen – Broadway’s newest hit, powered by a star-making performance by Ben Platt (Pitch Perfect) and original and timely book, music, and lyrics. Dear Evan Hansen tackles the pain of suicide and the difficulty of the teenage years. From the creators of Rent and Next to Normal, who would expect anything but a moving piece filled with emotion and human connection?
Falsettos – set amidst the AIDS crisis in the ’80s, this take of an unconventional family is every bit as relevant and moving today as it was when it premiered. This revival not only offers an incredible story and music, but also a star-studded cast, including Andrew Rannells, Stephanie J. Block, and Christian Borle, just to name a few.
In Transit – the newly opened a capella musical breaks new ground with a vibrant cast portraying the lives of NYC subway riders and their daily lives. One of the show’s creators, Kristen Anderson-Lopez (Academy Award winner for Best Song “Let it Go” from Frozen) says, “The show is a love letter to New York and the people who make up New York.”
The Great Comet – Josh Groban makes his Broadway debut as an accordion-playing aristocrat in this kinetic musical based on a portion of War & Peace. Time Out New York gave the piece five out of five stars, and also included it on both critics’ Best of lists, stating “this is theater like no other in New York. It grounds you and transports you at once, and leaves you beaming with pleasure.”
