THE WEEK IN DRAG with Emily Meow

Welcome back to another edition of #THEWEEKINDRAG!

First in the news this week, drag culture has once again flourished within the mainstream. Drag Queen Merch now have a line of their merchandise available for purchase in Hot Topic! DQM’s owner is none other than internet sensation and WERRRK’s own 2016 Drag Queen of the Year, BibleGirl. The line of shirts include Bible herself as well as Alaska Thunderfuck, Willam, Lisa Limbaugh, Rubber Child, Lucy StooleKimora Blac and many others! The merging of queer culture into mainstream pop culture is a huge achievement for BibleGirl and the team at Drag Queen Merch!

The Grammys took place this past week! The awards show was certainly one to remember, with my personal favourite moments including Beyonce‘s breathtaking performance, which was literal magic, Lady Gaga and Metallica’s collaboration, which seemed like a match made in heaven, and of course the moment Adele broke her Grammy to share with Beyonce, bringing some straight up Mean Girl‘s ending purity to the awards. However, my favourite part of the show was seeing the likes of RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni taking to the red carpet! Alaska ThunderfuckKatya and Courtney Act took the red carpet looking absolutely stunning to interview celebrities for E! and perezhilton.com. Congratulations, girls!

After a successful run under less than ideal circumstances and a year long hiatus, three of the biggest drag stars in all of Australia, Minnie Cooper, Vanity and Hannah Conda, have reunited “Transisters” at the Stonewall Hotel! With Mardi Gras right around the corner, keep abreast of the latest happenings at the Stonewall Hotel here!

Seguing from the Stonewall Hotel to the Stonewall Inn, the iconic Cate Blanchett performed alongside several queens in a charity show benefiting victims of gun violence. The money raised was given to the Newtown Action Alliance. Check out Cate’s performance of “You Don’t Own Me” here!

Also this past week, Willam has released a fragrance! The perfume is named “Scented” (although Willam has stressed that he originally wanted it called “Stank Dizzle”, but they wouldn’t let him). The packaging resembles a video tape, and you can find out more in Willam’s unboxing video below! Buy “Scentedhere.

Our friends at The Pandora Boxx Show were off this week but check out last week’s episode featuring Drag Race star Robbie Turner and comedian Julian Michael!

That’s it for another week in drag. Let us know if you feel like we missed anything or have anything for next time, tweet us weekly at @WERRRKdotcom or @emilymeowww for updates on #THEWEEKINDRAG.
