Our feature, The Weekly Instadrag, has proven to be one of our most popular features here at WERRRK.com, spotlighting literally hundreds of queens from around the globe. Several times a year such as during DragCon and the Austin International Drag Festival, the #WERRRK hashtag populates our timeline even more than usual. Another very popular time has proven to be Halloween and this year, as Disney junkies that we are, one particular queen caught our eye more than everyone else. Take a few minutes and get to know Britney Rosé!
Hi Britney! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself as a queen?
Sure! I’m a fairly new drag queen in Burlington, VT, a little over two years in. I’ve been the only queen here to bartend in drag. I’ve hosted shows and Drag Race viewing parties. I’ve performed at several shows in the area and won our annual amateur drag competing Vermont Drag Idol in 2016. I’m proud to say I’m completely self taught. I take inspiration from things that make me happy, such as Disney! I really enjoy pushing myself to take on new challenges and go outside of my comfort zone when it comes to my makeup and what better time to do that than Halloween?
What was your inspiration for recreating so many iconic Disney looks for Halloween?
I attempted a 13 Days of Halloween challenge last year with a few Disney looks included. They were some of my favorites and decided this year I wanted to dedicate each look to some of my favorite princesses and villains. I’ve always had such a love for the magic of Disney. I love that I’m able to bring some of my favorite characters to life on my own face with the magic of drag.
How long did it take you to recreate all those looks?
On average each look took about an hour and a half to two hours for makeup and another half hour or so for styling. Not to mention the time spent crafting some of the props I used. For example, I made the Maleficent headpiece from scratch and it took several hours over the course of a few days.
What was your favorite look out of them all?
Overall I was pretty pleased with each look, but if I had to choose a favorite I’d say the Zombie Snow White I did as a bonus 14th look. I had never attempted any makeup like that and I’m pretty proud of how it turned out.
Thank you for giving us a few minutes. Where can people keep up with you online Britney?
It was my pleasure! Thank you! I post pretty regularly on my Instagram @itsbritney802. I’m currently working on another drag challenge so stay tuned to see what it is!
