Jinkx Monsoon is a force to be reckoned with and one of the hardest working queens to have ever emerged from RuPaul’s Drag Race. Without a doubt, Jinkx has undoubtedly become one of the most talented winners from the show.
The anticipation of her new album has now reached fever pitch. However, delays with the new album have hit Jinkx hard, constantly apologizing to fans on social media for the wait. Taking to Twitter to explain the latest in the delay, “There was a huge set back in my new music video. FML. I feel cursed.” The album was funded by the success of her Kickstarter package which at the time stated the album’s release for May.
Well, the long wait for the release date is finally over! Jinkx first released a set of stunning shots for the album on Instagram and now after a long wait, The Ginger Snapped is available to buy today! The album cover is a stunner which features Jinkx in a glimmering sheen gold dress looking a true ruling queen.
Regardless of the delayed album this year has been a huge success for Jinkx, constantly on tour and in particular the UK. Fans have been lucky to catch her at Dragworld, The Drag Ball, Heels of hell, and the latest line up of Christmas Queens. Alongside all this, Jinkx still toured with Major Scales with their sold-out production of The Vaudevillians and was announced as the newest cast voice in popular cartoon series Steven Universe. If that wasn’t enough WOW presents have just released her new YouTube series, ‘cool mom.’
Lucky UK fans who attended Heels of Hell in October were treated to debut song ‘Cartoons and Vodka. The song is full of shtick, fun melodies and accompanied by a powerful set of pipes. It’s well known that Jinkx can hold an incredible note, just listen to Ladies in Drag if you don’t know what I’m talking about.
Her latest production of The Vaudevillians is spectacular. She and Major Scales make for a fantastic duo of melody masterpieces, the comedic connection they have brings the story to life. Combine this with a small intimate setting with a participating small audience making a true recipe for success.
Without a doubt, the new album is going to be fantastic, but it’s the humility and genuine passion from this queen that makes her not only loveable but well-respected.
As an advocate for non-binary issues, Jinkx has helped many young fans and helped to educate those who don’t understand but have an open mind to learn. Jinkx is a genuine, understanding person who cares about her fans so much that she is truly bothered when she disappoints them, even when the issue is out of her hands. Social media has been an outlet for her to post countless apologizes with regards to the album delay.
Another apology regarding her frustration on Twitter “Don’t think I’m not JUST AS FRUSTRATED as you are that it isn’t out yet. It’s been ready, but I’m gridlocked with all this media stuff. I want to release the album ten times more than you want it to be released, I promise. It’s killing me. The stress is making my hair orange.”
I urge anyone to go a Jinkx Monsoon show, even if you aren’t a big fan. You’ll see the effort and incredible artistry that goes into bringing this character to life. Jinkx’s stage presence is truly indescribable. She truly has a star quality and manages to get the audience in the palm of her hand every single time.
