Hello everyone and welcome to the Grammys Edition of A Haute Second with Spencer. Let me just start by saying, what a show that was! I literally loved every single performance this year. Kendrick Lamar’s performance was incredible. Lady Gaga gave me all the feels as always. Patti Lupone actually caused my soul to ascend from my body. But most of all, Kesha’s performance of “Praying” had me literally sobbing. Kesha’s performance was such a beautiful moment and I could not be more proud of her. Anyways, the Grammys red carpet was fabulous beyond measure. Just like we saw at the Golden Globes red carpet, the Times Up movement took control of the red carpet. Celebrities stood in solidarity to support the initiative set to eradicate sexual harassment and gender inequality in the workplace. Let’s take a look, shall we?
SZA in Atelier Versace
I am absolutely in love with this look. SZA looks stunning in Atelier Versace. The beading, the fringe, the color… everything about this is flawless. We just got started, but I already know this is one of the top looks of the night. Welcome to the red-carpet game SZA! We are going to become great friends.
Heidi Klum in Ashi Studio
Guess who is back! Is there a red carpet that Heidi Klum doesn’t go to? No matter, Heidi always shows up and she always looks freaking amazing. This Ashi Studio dress is so beautiful. I would not change a thing. Thanks for coming Heidi.
Lady Gaga in Armani Prive
Someone help me… I was not ready for this. Lady Gaga in Armani Prive is everything. I honestly have no words except for a quote from the queen herself. This look is just “talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, unafraid to reference or not reference, put it in a blender, shit on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it”…. Mother Monster, we are not worthy.
Cardi B in Ashi Studio
I am pleasantly shocked to say that Cardi B secured a spot on this list. Cardi looks phenomenal. I love this dress and all of its layers. Though I will admit I do feel a little reluctant to show Cardi some love after she defended her boyfriends homophobic remarks a few days. So lets just keep it at, she looks great. Next.
Kesha in Nudie’s Rodeo Tailor
At long last, my girl Kesha is here! I am in love with this look. That suit is tailored to perfection and fits her in all the right places. This is Kesha’s moment. For the life of me, I do not understand why Kesha didn’t win one of her two Grammy nominations. Kesha is a survivor, and instead of hiding in defeat she is leading the front-lines against sexual abuse. Kesha deserves more than just a Grammy. She is a perfect human being. Fabulous job on the carpet!
Cyndi Lauper in Moschino
I feel like Cyndi Lauper is possibly wearing one of the greatest suits of all time. I love this suit and I actually want one like… yesterday? This is like, actual art? Cyndi just looks remarkable. It’s not everyday that you see Cyndi Lauper walking by in a Moschino suit. Brilliant.
Janelle Monae in Dolce & Gabbana
Janelle Monae looks strong and powerful in a Dolce & Gabbana suit. I love Janelle’s style. She is able to take something many would consider masculine, and transform it into something so feminine and graceful, but also so strong and empowering. Keep doing your thing Janelle. I love it!
Lana Del Rey in Gucci
I just about choked when I saw Lana Del Rey walking down the carpet. This is by far my favorite dress I have ever seen Lana in. The slit in the front is at the perfect height, and I just love the train that trails behind her. Lana, stop being perfect alright? Look at that perfect smile!
Miley Cyrus in Jean Paul Gaultier
I love this outfit worn by Miley Cyrus. It is a incredibly simple concept, but it just looks amazing on her. It is the craziest thing watching the fashion transformation of Miley Cyrus. Every time it’s something new and different and that is why I love her. Her performance with Elton John was great!
Andra Day in Victoria Hayes
I am so fascinated by Andra Day. This is by far my favorite look on her. I love the colors of this coat and her signature beehive look. Oh and that leg slit hits the perfect spot. You know how I love a good leg slit. Amazing! Andra brings such a underrated level of class to the industry. She deserves our applause.
Okay so now we need to pick a best dressed of the night. Automatically when I think of the night’s best dressed my mind goes straight to one person… brace yourselves!
Best Dressed- Lady Gaga in Armani Prive

I’m sorry but was it even a question? Everythign about this look is perfect. I know you may think this is biased because i’m a huge Gaga fan (so are you so shut up). But really, it’s all flawless. The hair, the mug, the lace, the pointed shoulders, the black, and the train! This is by far one of my favorite Lady Gaga looks. I’m sorry, not sorry! My second choice would definitely be SZA and possible Lana Del Rey? I’m not sure.
Well that’s it for this year’s Grammys review! I loved this red carpet honestly. It is just so magical seeing these strong, powerful women stand up to the world and deliver their message of change across the red carpet.
