Hey, girl hey! Episode two of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 10 is here and it was a good one! This week’s episode started with the queens sitting on the couch discussing last week’s episode. Monet X. Change thought she should have been in the top and the other queens thought she was crazy. Aquaria and Miz Cracker further discussed their similarities in makeup. The drama went off again when The Vixen interjected in their argument trying to get Aquaria to own up to how she really felt about it. Things were LOUD in the workroom, but before the episode cut to commercial we got a great shot of Monet scrubbing the floor with her sponge dress.
Ru walked into the workroom this week with Andy Cohen serving straight up Texas realness. The mini challenge was called hay girl hay, a hoedown! The queens got into hilarious country quick drag and showed off their best hoedown moves. Asia O’Hara and The Vixen came out with the wins. Ru announced that this week’s maxi challenge would be a parody lip sync extravaganza about prescription medication called “Pharmarusical”, obviously. Since Asia and Vixen won the mini-challenge, they got to select the teams. Eureka O’Hara was picked last and got to pick what team she wanted to join, something we haven’t seen before.
Miz Cracker, Kameron Michaels, Blair St. Clair, Mayhem Miller, and Monet X Change made up Vixen’s team. Asia’s team was made up of Eureka, Kalorie Karbdashian, Yuhua Hamasaki, Monique Heart, Dusty Ray Bottoms, and Aquaria. Vixen chose to assign the roles rather than letting the queens pick what characters they wanted to play. Meanwhile, Asia’s team got straight down to business. They started practicing their choreography and seemed far more prepared than Vixen’s team.
It was time to run through choreography with none other than Drag Race royalty, Alyssa Edwards! Team Asia was first up. They showed off the choreography they already had down and Alyssa was impressed that they had no Charlie Hides this time around. Kalorie and Eureka struggled with the choreography. Team Vixen went to practice with Alyssa and she was disappointed they had no choreography planned, she actually read them to filth for it. The whole team seemed to struggle through the practice with Alyssa.
Back in the workroom, Eureka had a bit of a breakdown. She realized she wasn’t picked for anyone’s team because of her injury. She thought she was the weakest link and wasn’t giving her all in the challenge. Monet was anxious that team Asia looks better than them and that their team would be the one up for elimination. Dusty struggled with deciding if she should do her signature look on the main stage. Kalorie opened up about her struggles with weight while growing up. She wasn’t bullied for her sexuality but for her weight. Jujubee from season two inspired her to do drag and have the confidence she didn’t have before.
On the main stage, the queens performed live for the judges. Halsey and Padma Lakshmi joined Michelle Visage and Ross Matthews on the judge’s panel. Team Asia’s part was up first. Eureka didn’t have the lyrics down. Kalorie fell into the background. Asia stole the show, and Aquaria’s part was really fun. Team Vixen was up next and absolutely killed it. Every single member of their team did an amazing job. The final number included both teams singing about an anal option because what else would the final scene be about?
On the runway, the queens showed off their best drag. Team Vixen was the winning team, so they were all safe. Vixen was the winner of the challenge! Time for the judge’s critiques of team Asia, who were all up for elimination.
Asia O’Hara: The judges loved her performance and look. She had the lyrics and choreography down. They thought her makeup was flawless and her outfit was stunning. It was pretty clear she would be safe.
Yuhua Hamasaki: The entire panel loved her energy. She stood out in the challenge. Michelle thought her look wasn’t her best drag. She explained she had a better outfit but she didn’t want to repeat the colors she wore last week. Ross and Michelle were both disappointed in her look.
Dusty Ray Bottoms: Michelle loved how she stayed true to her look without having the dots all over her face. Ross, Michelle, and Halsey went crazy over her blazer. Everyone loved her performance and look.
Monique Heart: Michelle loved that although she wore a bodysuit, she put a unique spin on it. The judges thought she seemed to have gotten lost in the challenge. Padma said she noticed her, but thought she could have known the lyrics better. She agreed that she did struggle a bit.
Kalorie Karbdashian: Michelle thought she was the one who got lost in the challenge, and when she did notice her she didn’t have the lyrics down. She also thought her look was too off the rack to be her best drag. She was bottom two.
Eureka O’Hara: Michelle thought her bodysuit wasn’t her best drag, but Padma said hers was the best on the main stage. The judges were disappointed she didn’t know the lyrics to the lip sync. Eureka was able to open up to the judges about her struggles coming back to the show post-injury. She was bottom two.
Aquaria: The New York queen known for turning out looks was praised for hers this week on the runway. The judges wished she would have played up her old lady character.
Eureka and Kalorie who had become fast friends this season were forced to lip sync against each other to “Best of my Love” by the Emotions. Eureka came out ready to fight, while Kalorie hit the words perfectly. It was a tough one, but Eureka came out victorious.
