Another episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 10 is here! Jam-packed with drama, I’m sure this episode left you all gagging. This week the girls had to make a commercial for their own dating apps! So good.
Back in the workroom, the girls sat on the couch and talked about the results of last week’s challenge. Apparently, The Vixen wore a wig from Monique Heart. The other queens were a bit bothered her best drag look included something borrowed. Monique also thought she shouldn’t have been in the bottom three like she does every week.
We got another mini challenge! This time the queens had to do a screen test for Ru’s chocolate bar in quick, off the bus drag. Monet X Change decided to play an Irish character when she clearly knew nothing about Ireland and it was absolutely brilliant. Blair St. Clair, Monique Heart, and Monet X Change were the winners of the challenge.
The girls were separated into three groups in charge of creating three different apps. End of Days, a doomsday survivors app, Fibster, an app for pathological liars, and Madam Butterface, for those who have a banging body but.. her face. Blair’s team had End of Days, Monique’s Fibster, and team Monet X Change had Madam Butterface. Once they were in their groups, Mayhem Miller was quiet and seemed a bit off. Meanwhile, Yuhua Hamasaki, who was picked last, was a bit demanding in her group. She was constantly giving out her opinion when no one was exactly asking for it. Eureka O’Hara wanted her character to rely on a fat joke, which annoyed The Vixen.
As Team Madam Butterface got into drag, Yuhua had some drama with Aquaria. They were arguing over the prosthetic noses being used to ugly up their characters. Monet gave out some suggestions for how Yuhua should paint her character and she interpreted it as Monet and Aquaria ganging up and yelling at her. Monique also pointed out that Asia O’Hara, also a part of team Butterface, seemed like she didn’t care much for the concept her group was putting together. Monet’s group got the “we’re struggling” edit.
Time for the queens to shoot their commercials with Michelle Visage and Carson Kressley. First up was team Monique and their app Fibster. They struggled a lot. Monique tried to take control of everyone’s roles, Kameron Michael‘s narrating came off flat, Mayhem’s dominatrix character didn’t read that way at all. Ugh, it was hard to watch.
Then came End of Days with Blair, Eureka, The Vixen, and Miz Cracker. Three of these queens are campy queens and it showed. Their commercial was so fun. Eureka actually hit Cracker in the face, which was fun. Blair, Eureka, and Cracker gave it their all, while Vixen seemed a bit annoyed and uptight.
Madam Butterface was last up. Asia stole the show with her insane faces. Yuhua’s jokes didn’t land and had nothing to do with the app. It was a bit of a mess.
It’s elimination day and the queens were getting ready. Blair opened up about how she struggled to connect with the other girls and missed her mom back home. Aquaria brought up the issue of The Vixen wearing a borrowed wig for her best drag. The drama was interrupted when a spider was spotted climbing on a dress. Shout out to Kameron for catching it nicely instead of killing it. Vixen said that spider saved Aquaria’s life.
Dusty Ray Bottoms and Blair St. Clair opened up about their struggles with coming out as gay in religious families. Although Blair’s family are incredibly religious, they accept her drag with open arms. Her mom is her biggest fan. Dusty had a very different journey. Her parents made her get an exorcism where she had to name each person she had a sexual encounter with. Her parents don’t know that she is on the show. It broke my heart to hear her story. Now, she has a fiancé and is living an incredibly happy life. Also, Monet goes to church choir rehearsal in full drag every week, which was another happy ending to these stories.
On the main stage, the judges were joined by Courtney Love and Nico Tortorella where they would watch the commercials. Category on the runway, feathers! Although they worked in teams, they were judged individually. Asia, Eureka, and Blair were the top three of the week, while Yuhua, Kameron, and Mayhem were the bottom three. Here are the judge’s critiques!
Blair St. Clair: Michelle thought her look was a bit art and crafty, but Carson praised her look and her leadership.
Eureka O’Hara: Michelle praised her performance, welcoming her back to the competition after her struggles last week. Carson and Courtney loved her look.
Mayhem Miller: Michelle loved her makeup and dress, but said she got lost in the commercial. Mayhem mentioned how Monique was direct in what she wanted and didn’t want to be shut down.
Kameron Michaels: Carson raved about her look. Michelle said her performance was very flat and mentioned how she could have spiced up her boring lines a bit.
Asia O’Hara: Her Tweety Bird look was all the rage. Michelle mentioned how her favorite part of the entire challenge was Asia’s facial expressions. Carson took it one step further, insisting it was the best moment in the last ten years of his life. Nico thought her performance was the only one that landed in her group.
Yuhua Hamasaki: Michelle didn’t like her red followers and wig with her dark dress. Nico and Michelle thought she looked more like a club kid than an ugly girl. Yuhua had a lot of excuses. She said she felt rushed and blamed her group for her lackluster look for the challenge.
Back on the main stage, Asia walked away victorious. Mayhem and Yuhua found themselves in the bottom two. They had to lipsync to Celebrity Skin by Hole! My grunge heart exploded. That lipsynch was SO. GOOD. Mayhem absolutely killed it. Yuhua sashayed away.
