Hello friends! Welcome back to another edition of “What The Walking Dead” with me, Spencer Williams! Oh wow, you must be so excited. This week’s episode of The Walking Dead was a lot of fun in my opinion. I love this new story line and I am even more excited to talk about it. So let’s do this thing then, shall we?
Check Please?
The episodes opens up on a terrified Rosita stumbling for her life. I am not sure if I missed something, but Eugene isn’t with her. Rosita makes it to a tree and tries to catch her breath but all Rosita can hear are the whispers coming from the large herd of Walkers. It comes to be too much for Rosita so she takes an involuntary nap. Honestly, this whole scene was pretty chilling. You can tell Rosita is literally shook to her core. She is used to fighting off Walkers but in this moment she feels like the Walkers are hunting her and that is not something anyone is prepared for. Oh, I am so excited to see how this story-line plays out this season. Cheers to Christian Serratos who did an incredible job in this scene!
An Unexpected Journey
Michonne is carting along with the new group of survivors on their way to the Hilltop. Along the way we learn more about their background and Luke’s love for musical instruments. We also learn more about who and what they have lost along the way which really resonates with a very hardened Michonne. As things always go in this show, a morning attack by the Walkers sends our crew out into battle. Though reluctant, Michonne finally gives our newbies their weapons back and we get to see what they are finally made of. If we are being honest, this new crew seems to have it all down except for Luke. Not to question your judgment Michonne, but I think they would make an excellent addition wherever they go.
Campfire Songs
Well my two favorite characters are together again, except they are accompanied by the cock-blocking Henry. Carol goes to check on Daryl and we see that he has probably been living out on his own for a pretty long time. At one point Carol kind of brings up the question of if Daryl has been somehow searching for Rick while out here. To that, it was not a definite no which is pretty heartbreaking. Damn you Rick Grimes. They have a nice conversation but still, the two do not confess their love for each other and I am frustrated. When will the two just end up together this is starting to get silly! The one good thing however, Daryl has a dog. That dog is a good boy.
Maggie A Go-Go
So turns out Rick Grimes wasn’t the only character leaving The Walking Dead. Apparently Maggie will not be returning at all this season. Really this kind of fell together a little weird considering we spent a lot of time focusing on Maggie’s story-line before the time-jump. The show-runner, Angela Kang, was able to elaborate on Lauren Cohan’s disappearance.
“We’ve been talking to Lauren and hopefully we’ll get to tell more story for her,” Kang says. “We definitely have some things up our sleeve that we’d love to do. A lot of that is just a scheduling conversation, so hopefully that will all work out, because I think mutually we would like to continue with Maggie’s story, for sure.” The show staff then goes on to say that they “would like to see her come back. A lot of that is going have to do with Whiskey Cavalier [which premieres mid-season on ABC] and what her availability then becomes, which we obviously don’t control. But creatively, we would love to see her return to some degree. And we definitely feel there is more of Maggie’s story to tell. We did not, as you have seen, kill her off in 905. We established that she is out there somewhere. And that’s something we would like to pay off by having her return, if her schedule permits.”
Saving Eugene… Again
So here we are again. Carol and Daryl make it to the Hilltop where Jesus is now in charge with Michonne’s group not too far behind. What does this all mean? Well, we are about to embark on a search for Eugene once again! Why is it always Eugene, just kill him already! With one episode left before the long break, it appears we are really getting ready to set up this “Whisperers” plot line. Our groups will have to learn how to play nice if they are going to want to solve this seemingly serious issue.
In Summation
Daryl’s dog is a good boy. If anything happens to that good boy, we will riot. I would pay any amount of money at this point to watch Carol and Daryl make out. Just do it already! Why can’t these three communities just get along? Okay Lauren Cohan, just casually leave and not say goodbye. It’s not like we have been loyal fans of yours since 2012. Magna’s group is actually pretty bad-ass and I am here for it. Did I mention Daryl’s dog is a good boy? Magna was right about that shirt, that was an awful shirt and he deserved to be bit for wearing that shirt. Jesus loves to act like a leader but when you give him the official position he starts to back down just like a real politician. Wouldn’t it be easier for all of us if we just let the Walkers get Eugene. Think about how much time we would save rescuing him and his rat-tail.
We only have one more episode before we go into our mid-season break! That means things about to get wild. Let us hope no one dies next weekend but I won’t save my breath. No matter what happens, I will be here for you all. Let me know what you thought of this week’s episode in the comments. Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Enjoy a preview of next weeks episode below.
