David Ayllon brings The Queen Suite to Hotel Tides

Well hello there David Ayllon! It’s lovely to be talking with you again. How are you my dear?

I’m doing well! Keeping busy (as usual), but lots of really exciting stuff going on!

So we can’t let this interview devolve into yet another discussion of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. We have a tendency to do that but you have something very big coming up! Would you care to share your news with the WERRRK.com Universe?

Absolutely!!! I’m doing an exhibition of my drag photography called The Queen Suite at Hotel Tides in Asbury Park, New Jersey. It’ll be a mix of some favorites like Trixie Mattel and Bob the Drag Queen, as well as some never-before-seen photos with some surprise queens! The opening reception is this Friday, October 25th from 7-9pm, and the exhibition runs until December 1st.

That sounds amazing! How did this exhibition come about?

I was asked by Ryan Jimenez, the general manager at Hotel Tides. Pissi Myles (my husband) got her start in Asbury, so we’ve got a lot of friends and a fantastic community of support in the area. And since the evolution of my photography is so intertwined with Pissi’s drag career, it just made sense to jump on the opportunity to have a show there!

Wait, no one told me Pissi was going to be there! I think I’m busy that day!

*Laughs*

In all seriousness though, we love Pissi and we love your work! How can people get tickets to see your exhibit?

It’s actually a FREE event! And all of the artwork will be on sale, so buy a piece or else Pissi isn’t getting anything more than chapstick this Christmas.

I just assumed she’s a lock for coal in her stocking! But seriously kids, if you’re in the area, be sure to go check out David’s work because he’s incredibly talented! You can load up on prints for the whole family and get your shopping done in one fell swoop!

You’re the best. Thank you SO much for doing this!
