Congratulations Kat on being named a headliner! How did you get involved with the Austin International Drag Festival and what does this opportunity mean to you?
I got involved because my awesome bandmate Discord Addams was named a headliner and they expressed that they really wanted our band, DAME JUDY to perform a set! We contacted ADF and they were onboard! I’m thrilled to be joining!
For those people living under a rock, can you tell us a little bit about Kat Sass and your drag?
My drag is visually aggressive and emotionally charged and it is meant to provide a release of energy, be it through laughter or tears. People cry in my arms a lot, and it’s ok if you do too! My performance style is part Looney Tunes, part Butoh, and part punishment Nun. Right now I am most interested in energy manipulation, particularly the shift of energy that can be achieved through the commitment the performer and the audience has to each other.
We can’t wait to see what you’re planning on bringing to the stage in Austin! Can you give the WERRRK .com universe a little tease of what’s to come this fall in Texas?
I’m gonna scream belt my face off for you at the closing party with Dame Judy and I will bring THE DRAMA with my performance and garments. I’ll definitely make you laugh and i might make you cry. Also I’ll definitely eat Tex Mex with you if you want.
