After last week’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars where we watched Mayhem Miller get told she was sashaying away by her best friend Morgan McMichaels, we needed a pallet cleanser. Okay, maybe I just needed a happier episode because I am a Mayhem stan. Thankfully I got it in the form of Snatch Game of Love!
This week’s episode kicked off with Shea Couleé threatening to call her mom to kick Mayhem’s ass for voting to eliminate herself. All of the lipsticks in the box were votes for Mayhem. It seems she agreed her time in the competition was over.
That was quickly followed by a new day in the workroom. It’s time for Snatch Game of Love! It’s like the Snatch Game but with a dating game twist. My favorite part of this challenge is always watching the queens prep their characters in the workroom. Jujubee is going to be the third queen to play Eartha Kitt. She is a true cat lady, so it seems correct. Shea decided to play Flava Flav, which is incredible. Miz Cracker would be Lady Gaga. Alexis Mateo is taking on the part of astrologer Walter Mercado. The two Snatch Game virgins, India Ferrah and Blair St. Clair were taking some risks. India was going for Jeffree Star and Blair Ellen DeGeneres. RuPaul wasn’t buying either of those characters.
The first round of Snatch Game of Love featured Lady Gaga, Walter Mercado, and Jeffree Star. I have to say, this round was a little rough. Cracker and India fell a bit flat. It was Alexis’ characterization of Walter Mercado that saved the first round. Of course, Walter was selected for the date!
Then came Ellen, Eartha Kitt, and Flavor Flav. Instantly, Shea quoted Sasha Velour‘s verse from the finale of season 9 performance. This round was much better than the first. Shea and Juju were feeding off of each other so well. It made up for Blair’s lackluster performance. It was close between Flavor Flav and Eartha Kitt, but Flavor Flav got the date.
On the main stage, Ru was joined by Snatch Game of Love contestants Tommy Dorfman and Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, as well as Michelle Visage and Ross Matthews. The runway was prom-themed. I loved Cracker’s look with acne, I felt she had the most literal response to the category. I was living for Blair’s androgynous look. Of course, I was wild about Shea’s look that called back to the season 9 finale.
As for critiques, of course, India received the worst this week. Miz Cracker and Blair were also given less than great critiques. As for the tops, Alexis and Juju were there, but it was Shea who rightfully took home the win. Oh, and guess what? No queens are safe anymore. So, Shea could vote any of the queens out. What a twist, eh? (Sorry, this isn’t a Canada’s Drag Race recap).
After the critiques, Shea confronted Alexis about the time she put her lipstick in the box when she did not deserve it. It almost sounded like Alexis was threatening Shea? It was a very strange conversation. India pulled Shea aside and let her know Alexis and Mayhem asked her to put Shea’s lipstick in the box. Was she lying to try to save herself since she clearly did the worst? Or was Alexis really conspiring against Shea? Alexis claimed it was a stunt, India claimed she was lying.
It was the moment of truth. Shea would be facing off against Vanessa Vanjie Mateo, Alexis’ drag daughter! Open Your Heart by Madonna was the song. Vanjie came out strong, but Shea’s performance was so good! Shea pulled off the win, got the cash tip, and sent India home. Who else thought she was sending Alexis home?! The drama!
