RuPaul and the cast of season 12 of RuPaul’s Drag Race gifted us with a little Halloween fun this year. Usually, by the time October rolled around, we would have been able to see most of our favorite queens from the season live on stage. Given this whole pandemic thing, seeing our faves from the most recent season has been difficult. As a solution, we were able to see our favorite cast members perform a Halloween-themed performance via YouTube. Don’t forget to tip the queens via Venmo, PayPal, or CashApp!
The show opened up with a cute bit from our season 12 winner, Jaida Essence Hall! Plus, a little bit of Aiden Zhane‘s Mae West-inspired ghost. That bit rolled into a lip-synch number to Ru’s Bring Back My Girls with each queen in Halloween garb. I have to given this one to Gigi Goode. Her The Birds inspired look was everything to me.
Throughout the show, Jaida interviewed each of her fellow contestants. It was nice to check in with all of the girls! I think the best conversation was between Jaida and Miss Congeniality, Heidi N Closet! She even got an advertisement for a dating app in there. Make those coins, girls. Jan speaking about doing a gig and seeing what their lives should have been was sad to hear. They really were robbed from the experience of completing a season of RuPaul’s Drag Race!
In the middle of these interviews, however, we got some extra content. Jan gave us some ASMR spooky sounds. Widow Von Du became a literal spider for a lip-synchs of Sissy That Walk which was interesting. The most fun aside was definitely the spooky Snatch Game. Crystal Methyd was Freddy Kruger, Jackie Cox was the Bride of Frankenstein, and Rock M Sakura was Pennywise. Jackie’s take on the Bride of Frankenstein as Melania Trump was perfection and a little too real.
At one point, there was a PSA to vote with Heidi and Brita. There were some men in underwear involved which made me disconnect, but the meaning behind the PSA was important. Make sure you drop off your ballot or vote in person this Tuesday, November 3rd! Check out Vote Save America for more information here!
The show wrapped up with a lip-synch to hit single from the season, I’m That Bitch but changed to I’m That Witch. Sure, this special was a little cheesy, but it was a lot of fun. It was nice to get a distraction from the world around us with some of our favorite drag queens. Jaida was a wonderful host, the bits were fun, and the looks were incredible. I hope this silly little special brought a smile to your face this spooky season.
Whose Halloween look was your favorite? Sound off in the comments below. I know I gave mine to Gigi, but I have to shout out Heidi’s Jigsaw inspired look. Just brilliant! Happy Halloween from all of us at WERRRK.com! Bring Back My Ghouls was streamed exclusively on World of Wonder’s YouTube channel, WOWPresents, and can be found in its entirety at the link here.
