Can you believe we are near the end of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 13?! It feels like the season started yesterday but also three years ago at the same time. Does that make sense? Anyway, we’re down to the top four and things are getting juicy.
After we bid a sad farewell to Olivia Lux, the top four recapped their track records throughout the season. Gottmik and Rosé have made it this far without lip-syncing, while Symone and Kandy Muse weren’t so lucky. Then came the question: Will all four queens stay or would we get an elimination this week?
It was a new day in the workroom and the queens were talking about what they would do with the money if they took home the crown. Three of the queens were on the same page, deciding to put the money back into their drag. Kandy, however, wants to buy a boat. Does she have a boat license? Where will she dock it? She doesn’t know the answers to these questions either, I’m sure.
RuPaul broke up the boat conversation by entering the workroom in a wonderful yellow suit with sunglasses on. I don’t know why, but I was feeling this vibe. At this moment, she shared that the queens would be recording their own verses to Ru’s new song Lucky, choreograph a number with Gottmik’s king, Jamal Sims, and have a chat with herself and Michelle Visage. You know the drill.
Gottmik kicked off the conversations with Ru and Michelle. I really loved this interview. We learned where she got her drag name, the fact that she goes by a name out of drag that she found via porn, and how proud she is of herself in this challenge. She was hilarious and I couldn’t have loved it more. Don’t get me wrong, everyone’s chat with Ru and Michelle was great, but Gottmik’s stole the show for me.
Then came the choreography run through with Jamal. Symone stumbled at first, but tapped into her inner-power at the end. Gottmik got her moment with her favorite person, while Kandy got her choreography pretty quickly. Then there was Rosé. She really killed it until it got to the moves for the rap part of her verse. She was hilarious at that point and not exactly on purpose.
As the queens prepped to hit the main stage, everyone was sentimental. You can tell this group of queens really love each other. Gottmik didn’t want the season to end, and honestly, I don’t either! This was such a strong group and I will miss seeing them on my TV every week!
The queens hit the main stage to perform their version of Lucky. Can we talk about that set?! It was so well done! Everyone slayed their verse! It looked like they had a great time while performing strong.
Then came the last critiques with Ru, Michelle, Ross Matthews, and Carson Kressley. The finale critiques are usually positive, but this season took it to the next level. RuPaul started crying when speaking to Gottmik about her parents, which was touching. Kandy got high praise for her personality, Rosé was applauded for her well-rounded performances on the show, and Symone got showered in much-deserved praise for her looks. Everyone was applauded for their progress through the season. It’s such a tight race for the crown!
After the critiques, the queens were to lip-sync, you know the drill. RuPaul was on to the fact that we know the drill and decided to flip the script. The queens would be performing INDIVIDUALLY, which was a fun twist! They all performed off to I Learned From the Best by Whitney Houston. Everyone did well, but Symone and Rosé were the stand outs to me.
So, someone was eliminated, right? Absolutely not. We have a top four going into the finale. Now is the time to sound off in the comments below and let us know which team you are on!
