Another episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race aired this week and this one was fun. The episode was centered around a charity event for the queens eliminated first throughout the years. We got to see Tempest DuJour, Jaymes Mansfield, and Kimora Hall. It was great.
However, it was not great at first. RuPaul entered the workroom but someone was missing. Kornbread Jete had to exit the competition due to an injury. Of course, the queens were devastated. She was such a light in the workroom and she will be missed dearly. At least she will hopefully return next season.
Anyway, after mourning Kornbread, this show went to a whole new level. To figure out what team the queens were on for the main challenge, they had to pop a balloon that had color confetti inside. It wasn’t just any old balloon pop. The balloon was attached to the butt of the pit crew and they had to thrust into it to pop it. Of course, they did, right? All eyes were on Maddy Morphosis, who is straight, but was a good sport about it.
The queens were paired with Tempest, Jaymes, or Kimora based on the color of the confetti, but the best part was that Tempest walked in wearing the same shirt Daya Betty is wearing in her confessionals. It was hilarious. Team Tempest was made up of Angeria Paris VanMichaels, Jorgeous, Kerri Colby, and DeJa Skye. Team Jaymes consisted of Maddy, Willow Pill, Orion Story, and Jasmine Kennedie. Team Kimora featured Lady Camden, Bosco, and Daya. The queens would be making an emotional PSA for the first eliminated queens. A brilliant concept.
The queens were then sent to film their PSAs with Michelle Visage. Team Tempest was up first and everyone was nervous. Jorgeous, Angie, and DeJa struggled with their lines at first, but DeJa and Angie really pulled it together. Meanwhile, Kerri got a little ugly and did great! Then came team Kimora. They poked fun at Kimora’s inability to get ready in a decent amount of time. Bosco was directing and doing a great job. Last was team Jaymes and everyone was in an executive look except for Orion, who looked like a housewife, which stood out a bit. Willow did great, but the rest fell flat a bit.
While the queens were getting in drag, Jorgeous was talking about how she got her start in drag. She started performing at bars when she was 16 with permission from her parents. So, her whole family showed up and packed the bar. The cute moment turned sad as Willow opened up about all of her health conditions and how she feels like her body is declining. It was heartbreaking.
Things picked up when the queens hit the main stage with Ru, Michelle, Ross Matthews, and Ava Max. The category on the runway was spring has sprung, which was fun. Willow had a fully constructed house on her head, which was out of this world. Willow Pill is a national treasure.
As for the PSAs, there were a few who fell flat. The judges’ critiques reflected that. Kerri, DeJa, Maddy, Willow, and Daya were safe, while Angie, Lady Camden, and Bosco were in the top. Orion, Jorgeous, and Jasmine were in the bottom. In the end, Bosco won the challenge while Orion and Jorgeous fell in the bottom too.
They faced off to My Head and My Heart by Ava Max. Jorgeous absolutely killed it. Her performance was so good. Poor Orion stood no chance. It was clear Jorgeous would be staying. The moment of truth came and went, Orion did not have the golden ticket. See you next week as the queens compete in a sewing challenge.
