Let’s begin with saying….justice for Lemon. Last week’s episode left us and social media with a very sour taste in our mouths over THAT elimination.
But it’s a brand new week, and we keep it moving. Back in the werkroom and tensions are somewhat rife when Jimbo reveals he chose to send Janey Jacke home. Of course, it went down well with Janey who accused him of favoritism. However
The next morning the queens gather around in the werkroom… and strong words are exchanged. Mo Heart gave some critiques to Janey that were… a little harsh. Stating the talent show outfits were more drag brunch than mainstage, and even as far to say first time in drag. The faces of the queens are priceless, Blu Hydrangea who is a shady queen does defend Janey stating it wasn’t that bad.
We’ve got Rumail and the queen’s maxi challenge is a RuPaul Ball! Three categories one of which the queens have to make a frock from scratch that RuPaul would wear herself. Now we all know the routine some queens will excel at this, and others will keep their head above from drowning.
The frantic battle for fabric, rhinestones, and garments begins. The fear of someone hurting an ankle is imminent after the last two seasons of injuries. I speak too soon….medic! Cheryl Hole cuts her finger running with scissors, dangerous stuff. Everyone seems happy with what they grabbed and the process begins. After god knows how many seasons some queens still aren’t sure how to put a garment together. Others have learnt to sew, therefore fewer fashion disasters look set to haunt this season. RuPaul gathers the queens country by country for a show and tell on what they are set to do. Jimbo gets emotional after his chat, stating it was a dream come true to talk to him.
I know it’s a TV show, and we all know editing comes into play, but the attitude of Baga Chipz is really surprising, it’s almost as if she’s above everyone else. napping on the couch whilst everyone works. Is it a storyline ploy or British sarcasm? Who knows but it’s a little disappointing to see.
Jujubee looks more like the on-set counselor/co-host in the werkoom, doing walk-throughs and having little chats with everyone. Hearing Juju, Blu, and Cheryl talk about gender Blu talks about their gender journey and growing up in Northern Ireland. I love these chats, they are still so important particularly as this season is on a bigger platform in the UK.
Joining the judging panel this week are Alan Carr and Daisy May Cooper who is hilarious, and I wish she’d be on the panel every week. So with three categories and plenty of looks to get through, I’ll recap on my fave looks, starting with Kitty Girl. Pangina Heels struts out in a gorgeous gown and headpiece, I liked Cheryl’s take on Kitty Girl it was soft and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The second category is Butch queen, some of the queens look like they got different assignments. For me the category was a bit mixed and matched, I loved Mo Heart, and Jimbo’s the most. Jujubee baffled me, again simple dresses we’ve seen previously a few times before. The third and final category is ‘You Wear It Well’ and everyone did a great job, of course, some were stronger than others. Jimbo stole the show in the gold glittery number, Mo Heart, and that stunning green number for me were the top two.
The fact that Baga is safe… no words. Is it fair that Pangina helped make Baga’s dress, and that her other looks were subpar, no? For me Jimbo and Rupaul’s interactions were a highlight, they bounced well. All of Jimbo’s looks were the best for me tonight, and I think he’s going to do very well in the competition. Although constructed in an evening and starting from scratch Cheryl is facing the bottom two joined by Jujubee, which after last week’s fiasco with Lemon my heart can’t take much more. The critiques were a bit questionable I must say, the tops, and bottoms were an odd placement.
So it’s untucked time, and the pleas begin, this week I got the sense decisions had already been made. Janey and Jimbo listened yet going into the lipsync, I think we all knew who they’d chosen regardless. This week’s number is RuPaul’s “Supermodel” and I must say it was a bit lackluster. All I could think was how good Cheryl and Jujbee would perform this number, it would have been fantastic. Janey pips Jimbo to the post and wins the lipsync, she chooses to send Cheryl Hole home.
In the words of Jan…. not this. Two weeks and both my favorites have gone home. This season is not going my way, but that’s the name of the game. From today count me in as Team Jimbo and Blu Hydrangea.
So are you happy with this week’s elimination?
