Last week’s episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race saw no elimination, so the whole gang was back. This episode kicked off with a mini-challenge and a classic one at that. The queens took part in the reading challenge, which was hilarious. These queens were great at reading each other. Bosco was especially good, making a wonderful joke that included RuPaul herself. She won the challenge. The queens also got Sweet Tarts.
Ru informed the queens that they would be competing in a 60s girl group challenge. They would be separated into groups The Rupremes, The Runettes, and The Shangrulas. They would be writing their own verses. One group was composed of Jorgeous, Jasmine Kennedie, and DeJa Skye, another Bosco, Williow Pill, and Daya Betty, and the last group was made up of Angeria Paris VanMichaels, Kerry Colby, and Lady Camden.
The girl groups recorded their songs with Michelle Visage. Angie did a great job singing like Diana Ross. Bosco and Daya had Michelle laughing with their verses. Meanwhile, DeJa, Jasmine, and Jorgeous had no singers in their group but DeJa pulled it off. When it came to planning their choreo, Jorgeous and Jasmine were a little annoyed with DeJa because she’s a cheer coach (for kids), so she was calling the shots. Willow, Bosco, and Daya killed it. Lady Camden is a choreographer, so she took over for her group, which was good because Angie and Kerri aren’t exactly dancers.
While the queens were getting into drag, they talked about music. Kerri wasn’t allowed to listen to non-Christian music. Meanwhile, Jasmine and Daya sorted out some issues they had with each other.
The queens performed their songs in front of Ru, Michelle, Carson Kressley, and Alec Mappa. The performance was cute, but some groups were better than others. On the main stage, the queens wore looks with hearts on them. It was a cute runway!
It was time for the judges’ critiques. Bosco, Jorgeous, and Willow were safe. Daya, DeJa, and Angeria were the tops of the week, while Jasmine, Kerri, and Lady Camden were in the bottom. Daya won her first challenge, while Kerri and Jasmine fell into the bottom two.
The queens faced off to Un-Break My Heart by Toni Braxton. Jasmine lost a shoe early on, which was fun. She did a split with one shoe on. Somehow, she beat Kerri, who did not have the golden ticket. We will miss you, Kerri!
