This season of RuPaul’s Drag Race has been a rollercoaster, hasn’t it? Sometimes no one went home, other times two people went home, like last week when we bit farewell to Jorgeous and DeJa Skye. Now, we have a top 5, but what if it stayed that way going into the finale? Well, I have news for you, but more on that later.
This was the final maxi challenge somehow. Everyone would be writing their own verse to the song Catwalk and also make a music video and create a look that a designer would construct for them. Oh yeah, and they had to have a tick-tack lunch with RuPaul and Michelle Visage. It was going to be a long day for the queens.
It was time for the queens to decide what they were going to serve for their look and their verses. Angeria Paris VanMichaels, who is a singer, decided to rap. Willow Pill, Angie’s close friend, said she was going to scat, which was my favorite part of the whole episode I think.
During the tick-tack lunches, Bosco talked about rising from the bottom to a happy position in the competition, Daya Betty opened up about her diabetes, Angie talked about all of her eight drag kids and also that her parents call her ‘lil baldie,’ Willow opened up about her illness in the competition and Lady Camden shared about the tragic reason she left England.
After lunch, the queens got their costumes. They got in their looks and learned their choreography. Angie struggled with the choreo and they didn’t have a lot of time to learn before they got into filming the video. In the end, it seemed.to work out for everyone, though.
The moment was here, y’all, the final runway. Of course, it was family only, so Carson Kressley and Ross Mathews joined Ru and Michelle on the panel. The final runway was fun. Everyone looked beautiful and I enjoyed all of it.
Then it was time for the music video. RuPaul was in the video, so that was something. He was out of drag operating the camera. The video was pretty cute and no one was horrible which is always a positive thing.
When it came to the critiques, which are always my favorite for the final episode. The judges reflect a bit about the queens’ journey through the competition and it’s wholesome for once. Plus, it’s fun for us to be reminded of each of the contestants’ growth throughout the season. Of course, they all talked to their younger self, which isn’t my favorite part, but at least it’s cute. Of course, Willow’s words of encouragement to her younger self had us all emotional.
For the final challenge, Lady Camden took home the win, while Daya and Bosco were safe, leaving Angie and Willow in the bottom two. They faced off to Telephone by Lady Gaga and Beyonce, and it was SO good. This is a non-elimination I’ll allow.
So there ya have it, folks. We have a top 5. Whose team are you on? Sound off in the comments below!
