Did anyone else go into this episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars sad that only four of these queens were going to move on to the finale? I wasn’t ready to bid this cast farewell. Good news, y’all, we don’t have to! But more on that later.
The episode kicked off with Raja, Jaida Essence Hall, Jinkx Monsoon, Trinity “The Tuck” Taylor, Monet X. Change, Yvie Oddly, Shea Couleé, and The Vivienne returning to the work room and attempting to do the math regarding who would be moving on to the finale. Shea was sure she was out of the race, but a massive twist would give her a shot to make it to the finale.
RuPaul entered the workroom to announce this week’s challenge. The queens would be showing off their talents in a show that would give back to charity. Each queen would pick a charity and whoever won the challenge and lipsync would get $30,000 donated to said cause. The queens were excited about that, however, they were even more thrilled about a twist coming.
Whoever won this challenge wouldn’t only get a donation to a charity they chose, they would also get THREE STARS. That means Shea was back in the competition, and she knew she needed to win if she wanted to move forward.
The queens started prepping for their talent performance and while doing so, would take turns meeting with Ru and Michelle Visage for the infamous Tick Tack lunch. The interviews were special, but nothing was more heartbreaking than Yvie sharing that her illness is progressing and she is losing her ability to perform the stunts that she was once known for.
It was time for the queens to perform. A lot of them opted for a lip sync performance to their own songs. Out of every one of those numbers, Shea stood above the rest. She looked like a real life pop star on that stage. Jinkx chose to sing live, and so did Monet, but with a twist. She performed opera, something she is professionally trained in, and it was incredible! Raja did a Balinese dance in honor of her father who passed away. All together, this group’s performances were really special.
In the end, Shea and Monet won the challenge, carrying them both to the top four. Jinkx had enough stars to bring her into the finale, but for that fourth spot, there was a tie. Jaida and Trinity both had three stars, and for some reason, Ru made Monet pick who else was going to the top four. Of course, she picked her twinner, Trinity. However, Jaida was still in the running.
RuPaul, much like all of us, was not ready to see the other four go home. So, they’re not. There will be TWO lip sync Lalaparuzas. Jinkx, Monet, Shea, and Trinity will be competing for the ultimate crown, while Raja, Jaida, Yvie, and Viv will be competing for the title of Miss She Already Had Herses. Whoever won that challenge would also get $50,000! I can’t wait to see how this turns out!
