It’s the top five and after the elimination of Dakota Schiffer, things are getting emotional back in the werkroom. Out of all the departures, the queens are hit hard, saying she shouldn’t have gone (Agreed.) This then leads to further tension as conversations take place, hinting that they think Jonbers Blonde should have been at the bottom (disagree.) But let’s leave the negative behind and start with a fresh new day.
It’s a fresh day and the tension continues as Jonbers defends himself once again about the previous week’s elimination. Pixie Polite gets the brunt of it, and the discussion of USP is discussed. It’s getting down to the wire, so more things are being critiqued at another level. But saved by the bell and breaking up the discussion, time for this week’s challenge.
The queens are to act in an upcoming reality tv show ‘Squirrel games’ which is to take place in the Big Brother house. It’s a mash-up of two very different shows, and honestly not sure how it will work. So of course Squirrel games is based on the incredibly popular Korean TV drama Squid Games. If you enjoyed that and not to sound like a preacher, do delve into more Korean dramas. The Korean film and TV industry is full of some incredible gems waiting to be watched, dont let the language be a barrier.
Cheddar Gorgeous admits to not having watched many reality TV shows, although currently competing on one. Nowadays I too dont watch much reality TV, but back in the day, you could not escape watching Big Brother in the UK. Cheddar is in charge of casting after last week’s win, and it’s a harmonious casting process. Some doubts are brought to light once the rehearsals begin, in which Michelle Visage is our director for today.
I’ll be honest I have no idea how this is going to play out, as usual, the acting challenge is chaotic. The rehearsals show everyone in a state of panic, unprepared, and confused which of course throws us the viewer off. We had Jonbers confused by her dog’s name (is it fugly or pugly will we ever know?) Black Peppa yelling at the top of her lungs, when told to lower the volume we get the same scene played. Cheddar seems to be the only one who has it together, whereas Danny Beard on the other end is struggling with lines.
Getting ready for the runway, the conversation turns to parents and their current relationship. I love hearing how loved they all are, as we know not everyone has the same relatable story. Black Peppa highlights this by saying whilst not blood family her chosen queer family in Birmingham has helped her shine. A very wholesome and positive mirror talk this week, it’s been a nice balance of drama and emotion.
Mother is back on the runway this week and we’re joined by Alan Carr and special guest Lorraine Pascale. The theme is Ruff and Ready in ruffles. I really do not like ruffles, it reminds me of ravioli pasta, so let’s see how gorgeous they can look. Out first is Danny Beard dressed as a Liverpudlian girl off to the races. Once again Cheddar Gorgeous is out educating us all on her outfit, basing her look on Pansies. The outfit is to reflect on the term pansy used towards the LGBTQ+ community, and every time a hate crime is committed pansies are planted in that area.
It’s a well-rounded runway, with various concepts and cultural references, still not a fan of ruffles though. The time has come to see what carnage and chaos await as we watch ‘The Squirrel Games.’ Danny Beard hosts by playing Divine-ah Dickall based on the presenter Davina Mcall. Danny nails her mannerisms, and her chaotic personality and is perfectly cast for this role. As imagined the concept is bonkers, fighting to win a career revival and 100,000 nuts. There are many references to iconic scenes from past celebrity big brother episodes. Pixie Polites’s portrayal of Kimmy Booburn is spot on from the TV personality Kim Woodburn who is much loved. The sketch on the whole is bonkers, but it has its funny moments.
For once I’m not sure who is top and bottom, but I did love Jonbers, Danny, and Cheddar. I think they all hit the performance perfectly. Back in untucked and some positive reinforcement chats are taking place, and we get a TV wheeled in.
Remember the old days of untucked where’d we get pink furry boxes and emotional TV messages? Well, we get the UK version, starting with Jonbers parents (and cute brother) giving a loving message of encouragement. The messages keep flowing we get Cheddar’s boyfriend, and Black Peppa’s gorgeous best friend sending love. Pixie’s parents pop up, Danny’s boyfriend and adorable puppy sealing the last message with love.
Decisions are decided and Cheddar rightfully wins this week’s challenge earning her fourth badge win. Black Peppa and Jonbers are the bottom two, I did think Pixie would be at the bottom but she’s safe. Lipsyncing to ‘Some Kinda Rush’ by Booty Luv, this song takes me back to the early ’00s. It starts big from the get-go, Black Peppa dominates the stage, but Jonbers performs equally as loud. This is a tough and close performance I would keep both, and so does Ru we have a double shanty!
A great episode and next week are the semi-finals, and a general erection is being hosted which means it’s a roast. What did we think of this week’s episode? Let us know
