Kendall Gender left the competition last week after being voted by Vanity Milan in a lipsync battle. Back in the werkroom, a lovely mirror message rooting for Stephanie Prince is left behind. Snuggled on the couches the queen discusses the performances, and who did Rita Baga pick to leave? She too decided on Kendall, wanting Stephanie a chance to showcase a second time around. Victoria Scone decides to ask Stephnie why she decided to use the term ‘fishy during her lyrics last week. A very fair comment, as we all know the scene is rife with misogyny and something Victoria is intent on highlighting. In her confessionals declaring she was scared to bring the topic up, it was a much-needed discussion, and I’m glad she brought it up. The queens all agree not to use the term, and to continue educating the audience and themselves.
So new day new challenge in the werkoom, and already the queens are handed the task of reading one another. Well, education amongst these queens is needed, this might of been the worst reading challenge in drag race history. They all flatlined spectacularly and they all knew it, which added to the fun. Anita Wiglit wins the challenge, the best of a bad bunch, so was it really a win?
A fan-favorite challenge is back this week in the form of a summit, it’s a snatch game! A new format will be played to challenge the queens. Brooke Lynn Hytes arrives to discuss who is doing what character, unlike Rupaul who doesn’t change the whole cast. Some gentle suggestions are made amongst some though. Iceisis Coutoure plans to do Pamela Anderson or Donatella Versace but needs to check. A gentle nudge from Brooklyn believes she can perform Donnatella to the best of her ability. Victoria Scone aims to do the British icon, Kim Woodburn, she is sporadic and funny without realizing how camp she truly is. Now Anita Wiglit irked me just a little, deciding to do Adele and asking how she can make her funny. As we all know we’ve seen Adele done excellently by Ginger Minj in season 7. Anita replies well she’s skinny now, and it was in the moment I went huh? Adele has a fantastic loud cockney energy, and it was whittled down to her divorce and weight.
But moving on and let the snatch game summit begin, Sarain Fox and Traci Melchor are here to get involved. This snatch game has a lot to live up to, UK vs the World saw an outstanding snatch game. All stars season 7 gave us a double-character wonderland. So big boots to fill, and for me it was good. It had moments of comedy, the standouts for me were Icesis as Donatella, and Rajah O Hara as Big Frieda. Those two commanded my attention and made me laugh, the editing towards Silky Nutmeg Ganache as Lizzo was also funny. But for the wrong reasons, editing her as a never-ending monologue reaches no jokes. Stephanie as Cardi B went just as Brooklyn predicted relying heavily on sounds instead of jokes. Overall not the worst snatch game, it had highlights and lows as usual.
The next day the queens talk about how they did and in walks a dolled-up Brooklynn in an interesting denim combo. But she has a special guest who missed out on the summit, casually walking in but the Prime minister of Canada Justin Theroux. Not only is he incredibly handsome, but charming and delivers some positive words to the cast. The queens of course do what’s natural and flirt full steam ahead.
To help judge this week we have one of my favorite winners and contestants of the Drag Race franchise (no it’s not Trixie Mattel or Katya Zamolodchikova) It’s the season one winner of Canada’s Drag Race Priyanka, I love her energy, her looks, and her sense of humor. I wish she was a permanent judge on the show. Category is… Celestial Bodies.
All these looks are phenomenal, for me, the tops were Icesis, Rajah, and Silky. Down to the virtues and I would agree with the comments made. Unfortunately, we see the bottom two Stephanie Prince and Anita Wiglit. They plead their case to the top this week Icesis and Rajah have a very well-deserved win. Anita is a tiny bit shocked she’s at the bottom thinking she did a great job. It’s down to lipsync it out to the iconic 00’s emo number “Sk8er Boi” by Canadian singer Avril Lavigne. Both of these queens are lipsync assassins, I would love to see them both live. They killed it and Icesis wins, revealing the lipstick she chose is Stephanie Prince.
New episodes of “Canada’s Drag Race: Canada Versus The World’ will premiere every Friday at 9pm ET/6pm PT in the US and in select territories exclusively on WOW Presents Plus, day-and-date with its local airing on Crave in Canada.
