RuPaul’s Drag Race was back this week for the series’ 200th episode and its 15th anniversary! Congrats are in order for everyone who works in front of and behind the camera. This show has changed so many lives and we are forever grateful.
This meant we got a mini-challenge! The contestants had to get into quick drag and pose in front of a green screen to be edited into iconic Drag Race moments. Anetra’s take on Willow Pill’s incredible talent show performance was by far the best one, and of course, she won!
Good news everyone, we got a BALL episode. A crystal ball, to be exact. There were three looks: start your engines- a take on RuPaul’s classic driver’s suit, a remake of a classic ball look, and one look from scratch dripping in crystals. Yes, I love it. Loosey LaDuca was determined to snatch the win since she creates her own costumes, while other contestants like Spice were destined to struggle.
As the queens were constructing their outfits, Carson Kressley came into the workroom to give them some guidance. They gave some great feedback, especially to Salina EsTitties, who was struggling with confidence going into the design challenge.
While the queens were getting into drag, Anetra opened up about her struggles with her mother after she found her drag. While she was accepting at first, she then kicked her out because she was making “her family members uncomfortable.” This story broke my heart. There is a happy ending, though. She found a better relationship with her biological father who took her in and bought her a sewing machine!
The queens then hit the main stage to show off their looks in front of Ru, Carson, Michelle Visage, and Julia Garner. RuPaul did another lip sync performance but I would prefer not to talk about that.
I was impressed by everyone’s looks. While some did not hit as well as others, there were no clear messes, which was great. In the end, Marcia Marcia Marcia, Malaysia Babydoll Fox, and Luxx Noir London were safe. Salina, Spice, and Loosey got negative critiques while Mistress Isabelle Brooks, Sasha Colby, and Anetra got high praise. Sasha won the challenge, while Anetra, Loosey, and Mistress were safe. That left Salina and Spice in the bottom two.
The queens faced off to That’s What I Want by Lil Nas X. Spice didn’t know the words, while Salina performed well. She got to stay while Spice sashayed away.
