RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars: The Fame Game and It’s RPDR Live! (S8 E1 and 2)

RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars was back for its 8th season and some of our favorite queens are back to compete for the crown! What’s fun about this season is that it features many queens who have truly grown since their first time on the show! It’s going to be amazing watching them show off their chops!

Heidi N Closet, Mrs. Kasha Davis, Naysha Lopez, Kahanna Montrese, Kandy Muse, Darienne Lake, Monica Beverly Hillz, Jaymes Mansfield, Alexis Michelle, Jessica Wild, Jimbo, and LaLa Ri make up this fun cast! The winner will receive $200,000, but there is not only going to be one winner. The Fame Game is a new way for a second queen to take home the title and will win by a fan vote! The eliminated queens will be posting their runway looks and fans will vote for which queen will win queen of the fame games and $50,000!

For the first mini-challenge, the queens had to walk the runway in a fashion show. Everyone brought their A-game for this runway. I was so impressed by everyone’s looks! Then, the queens learned that they would be recording a song for the first challenge in two groups. Group one included Alexis, Darienne, Heidi, Kahannah, Naysha, and Kandy while the second group comprised Jaymes, Jessica, Jimbo, LaLa, Monica, and Kasha.

The queens performed their original verses and choreography in front of RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Ross Mathews, and guest judge Idina Menzel. Both groups did a great job and you could see how much some of them had improved since their time on the show. For the main stage, the queens showed off looks inspired by fame. Kahanna had one of the biggest glow-ups, showing up in some of the most extravagant showgirl looks after struggling with her looks during season 11. In the end, Darienne and Monica found themselves in the bottom, while Kahanna took home the first win.

It was time for the first lipsync assassin of the season! It was Aja! She and Kahanna faced off Freakumm Dress by Beyoncé. Although Kahanna brought it, she was no match for Aja, who won and revealed who the group voted for to be eliminated. Sadly, Monica got the chop.

Oh yeah, the series dropped two episodes this week. For the second episode, the queens would have to perform their own Saturday Night Live-inspired sketch comedy show. As an SNL super fan, I absolutely loved this challenge concept.

There was no mini-challenge for this episode. The queens went straight into rehearsing for the show RDR Live. The contestants would be performing their sketches live, which added to the pressure. When it came to assigning roles, Naysha and Heidi wanted the same news anchor character, but they didn’t let it turn into a big event. Heidi got what she wanted, but Naysha didn’t. However, she said she would use it as motivation. It didn’t work out in the end, though.

SNL legend Bobby Moynihan came into the workroom to help the queens run through their sketches. While they were getting into drag, LaLa and Heidi brainstormed forming an alliance to not vote for each other, but Heidi had already formed one with Jimbo and Kandy. Miss Closet is really playing the game!

Ru was joined by Michelle, Carson Kressley, and guest judge Robin Thede to judge the girls. The category on the runway was net gala. The looks were great and I had a hard time picking a favorite, but as a basketball fan, I have to give Darienne a shout-out for that look.

Kandy, Kasha, Darienne, Jessica, Alexis, and LaLa were safe, while Jimbo was the winner. Naysha and Kahanna fell into the bottom two. Jimbo faced off against Pangina Heals, who sent her home on Drag Race UK vs The World! Pangina won in the end and revealed the lipstick of the queen the cast chose to eliminate. It was Naysha. She still has a chance to win the fame games!
