New week, a new mirror message, and new challenges await Down Under! After saying goodbye to Ivana Drink, Rita Menu feels the pressure yet is met with newfound confidence as a lip sync assassin.
The mini-challenge is centered around a guessing game of pouches with the pit crew. Insert a barrage of innuendos for the next five minutes. The guessing game consists of matching the color briefs, the winner of this tough challenge is Gabriella Labucchi. Announcing this week’s challenge, Ru delights the queens as it’s snatch game time!
A runthrough with Ru begins, and already sways Isis Avis Loren into reconsidering her choice of Gloria Swanson. Rita is confident in her choice of Kate Sheppard Ru however has other plans, quick to shoot the idea down. Instead gently guides Rita to her other option – Mr. Bean or Cardi B. Both could not be more different, and Rita gives her Cardi impression, and well Snatch game is going to be very interesting. For me, moments such as Ru interacting and having fun amongst the queens are a high point of drag race. It should be fun, light-hearted, and not the sometimes criticized show it’s come to be portrayed on social media.
Joining the Snatch Game as a guest judge is Keiynan Lonsdale. I will say this Snatch Game I enjoyed, my love-hate relationship with the challenge is long and winding. However, this season proved that with a bit of imagination, confidence, and delusion anything is possible. Of course, Ashley Madison steals the show as Jesus Christ or JC as Ru affectionately refers to. Isis alongside Ashley has everyone focused on her Donatella Versace character. It’s quick-witted, comedic, and just what the snatch game is about – making Ru laugh. At the other end of the spectrum, Rita falls flat with her Cardi B. The references, look and impersonation did not represent the character but more importantly, just weren’t funny. The rest of the cast ebbed and flowed between the book ends of the tops and bottoms.
Back in the werkroom and Hollywould Star believes she’s on top after her Naomi Cambell performance. Of course, the queen’s laugh, in which Hollywould announces she knows she flopped. Rita expresses her concerns for herself, whilst everyone is in agreement in Ashley and Isis shone.
Out on the runway and the theme is Night of a 1,000 Kylie Minogues. Kylie over the decades has created some of the most iconic moments and high-standard outfits. Considering how iconic Kylie is, this was a chance to of had a really creative runway. However, It’s become a battle of who wore it best, out first is Bumpa Love in a mardi gras number, decked in sequins and feathers. What would have benefited the viewer, is to see a side-by-side pic of the recreated outfit. Similar to what we’ve seen in past seasons with Madonna and Ru herself.
Out next Ashley Madison looks stunning in a pink shard number, unfortunately, Rita Menu also has that vision, in a replica number, complete with a hood also. Alongside this duo we have Flor and Isis in green sparkly Moulin Rouge numbers, with this said the one who wore it better is clear. The winner of this week is Ashley Madison with Rita and Flor at the bottom.
This week’s lipsync number is “Secrets” by pop princess Kylie Minogue. The lipsync song itself was a random choice out of her whole music catalog. Rita’s told to sashay away, the elimination was predictable after being two weeks at the bottom. A fabulous queen, and it’s a shame to see her leave. So we’ve completed the Snatch Same, what do you all think of this season of Drag Race? Let us know in the comments below!
