After saying goodbye to Bumpa Love, the queens gather to reflect on the now top four. Discussing amongst themselves if this was the top four they expected, most agreed they didn’t see Gabriella Labucchi up there with them. Which is surprising as she’s certainly a queen who stood out from the start.
This week’s main challenge is a makeover and this time with a twist. In what is reminiscent of season four the makeovers are joined by furry four-legged dogs. The queens must turn dog lovers and their fur babies into drag divas. Isis Avis Loren pairs the queens with who she thinks would have that good ole family resemblance. For me, this would be a dream, a little cockapoo named Burrito (a smaller twin of my very own pooch)and dog owner Grace are paired up with Flor. Taina and her gorgeous boy Blue are paired with Isis. Aaron, and Billy with Gabriella leaving Arlene and her beautiful boy Rupert (or Ru for short) with Hollywould Star. The matches are paired well, and all get well acquainted with the owner’s puppy.
Ru comes in for a walkthrough to dish out advice and small challenges in particular to Gabriella. Telling her to cut the Kitchy moves on the walkway and challenging her to be sexy. A struggle Gabriella later admits to Aaron, seeing herself as a only bag of bones. Whilst giving advice Ru descends into an over-the-top performance of how she’s inspired by unabashedly out-there divas. Thus inspiring the queens to be the same, the makeovees are amused and keep the laughter to a minimum. Moments like this are when Ru needs to be in the werkroom to spread the humor.
The queens must take to the runway with their pooches and makovees, to prepare for a runway rehearsal. All dogs are mostly well-behaved with Hollywould Star’s dog a very over-excited barker allowing little to get done. In Flor’s camp Burrito is meant for the runway, as is Gabriellas whose dog can be unattended on the lead and can perform commands.
What is beautiful during the Werkroom moment is just how wonderful dogs are and they’re more than pets. They become family members whom you care for and love deeply, we hear lovely stories from everyone. How each dog has helped their owner in some special way. Be it through coping with loss, getting through grief, and loneliness, and just brightening up their day.
Out on the runway, all the duos do a fantastic job Isis and Tania truly look like sisters, and of course, Blue looks handsome in his handmade sparkly jacket. Flor made Grace and Burrito into the most adorable team. Burrito is in his little tutu and Grace looks like her confidence soared on the runway. Gabriella and Hollywould both did great on the runway also, but their resemblance fell flat.
The tops this week are Isis and Flor, who finally got her well-deserved win. This leaves Hollywould Star and Gabriella Labucci. Both will be lipsyncing to “Not About You” Haiku Hands. This lipsync is not only a stand-out performance but also edited well. Before the lipsync begins Hollywould utter the worst sentence “There’s no way that Gabriella Labucci could beat me in a lipsync.” For the viewer, it was hard to tell from the edit who was in the forefront dominating. However, if looked closely whilst Hollywould was an incredible performer she didn’t know the words. In what fans might see as a shock, Ru tells Hollywould Star to sashay away! While she was a fierce competitor, if you don’t know the words then it’s clear what will happen.
