Last week, she-who-should-not-be-named was eliminated, while Cara Melle took home the badge! Turns out, Cara was the first-ever solo winner of a girl group challenge in Drag Race UK herstory! Love that for her.
It was a new day in the work room and the queens were ready to get back into the competition. RuPaul entered and brought us a mini-challenge. The queens would have to make an ad for S.P.N.K — a new protein shake. Oh yeah, and Raven was going to be behind the camera! No pressure! This whole thing was hilarious but in the end, it was Tomara Thomas who won the challenge.
For the maxi-challenge, the queens would be put into groups of three by Tomara and then create a master class, or as they’re called in this episode, disaster class, to present. Tomara chose Michael Marouli and Ginger Johnson for her team, and Ru assigned them the topic of party: drag lessons on making friends and influencing people, of course. Naomi Carter, DeDeLicious, and Kate Butch were the second group, covering work: drag lessons in mastering your career and life, while the final trio consisted of Banksie, Vicki Vivacious, and Cara, taking on love: drag lessons on romance and relationships.
As the queens broke into their groups, Banksie, Vicki, and Cara realized they were all the only badge winners in the room and they were all working together! The other groups seemed to have worked well together, too, but Tomara, Michael, and Ginger seemed to have a more narrow view of their topic, focusing too much on their local party scene.
While getting in drag, Banksie opened up about dating her partner, a trans woman. It was a powerful story about finding love in a space you didn’t expect, and how love extends so far outside of gender identity.
On the main stage, Ru was joined by Michelle Visage, Alan Carr, and Suranne Jones. The queens would be giving their disaster class followed by the runway, where they would be wearing slay-cation inspired looks!
As the queens were presenting, Naomi and DeDe took the topic a little too seriously and didn’t bring the jokes, while their teammate Kate hit every punchline. Team Tomara, Ginger, and Michael hit it out of the park. However, Banksie, Cara, and Vicki struggled all together. It didn’t hit the way they were expecting and it was a bit hard to watch at times.
For the runway, everyone looked pretty solid! However, I think Banksie was the standout favorite for me!
In the end, Tomara, Michael, and Ginger each won a badge! While Cara and Naomi fell into the bottom two. The pair faced off to The Only Way Is Up by Yazz. Of course with these two, the lip sync was so much fun! However, it was sadly Naomi who sashayed away.
