Were you all ready for what went down on RuPaul’s Drag Race this week? Me neither. If you haven’t watched the episode, prepare yourself, because this week’s elimination was a tear-jerker!
The queens returned to the workroom after Hershii Licquor Jéte and the queens went straight into fighting with one another. Q thought she should have won over Nymphia Wind. Morphine Love Dior brought up the drama between Plane Jane and Amanda Tori Meating in Untucked. Dawn summarized it perfectly – Plane doesn’t like Amanda or anything she’s served in the competition! However, I think everyone got over it by the time it was a new day in the workroom.
RuPaul came in and cut to the chase. This week’s maxi-challenge was RDR Live! The queens would be performing in live sketches. The catch is, just like Saturday Night, would be shot in one take. When it came to assigning roles, all went well until Plane and Morphine wanted the same one. Sapphira Cristål and Mirage wanted the same role, but Sapphira gave it up. Plasma, Amanda, and Dawn got caught up in a fight for the news anchor spots, but Dawn got the final role that she wanted.
Ru and the hilarious Ross Mathews made their way around the workroom to see which queens felt comfortable and who didn’t. Mhi’ya Iman Le’Paige was worried about how she often comes off as shy, but she felt confident she could pull this off. Mirage started to have second thoughts about taking on the role of the host for the night. However, I stopped really listening because Ru shared that the runway was going to be a night of a thousand Chers!! This is what I’ve been waiting for!
While the queens were getting into drag, Mirage shared that she recently hosted the first Indigenous pride in Las Vegas! She is so proud of her career and her heritage. Geneva Karr and Xunami Muse shared they were DACA recipients and opened up about the fear of having their status revoked. It was a special conversation that was quickly broken up by Amanda sharing that her day job is ghostwriting on OnlyFans. There’s a little bit of everything on this show.
On the main stage, Ru was joined by Ross, Michelle Visage, and the legendary Sarah Michelle Gellar! As the performances kicked in, Mirage struggled a bit. She was stumbling over her words during the monologue, but let’s be real, reading off a teleprompter is hard! But don’t worry we got a RuPaul lip sync moment in the middle of the show like a real SNL musical guest!
The Weekend Update-style newscast went great. The chemistry between Amanda, Q, and Dawn was perfect. Nymphia, Plasma, and Sapphira worked well together, too.
I felt extra critical of this runway. Plane looked great. Amanda choosing to be Cher’s doll? Brilliant. I was obsessed with Dawn’s take on the mod coat. Q looked perfect. And Nymphia?! No words. Stunning. Sapphira – incredible. Amazing!
It was time for the judges’ critiques. I think Mhi’ya was in the bottom three but her impression of Cher actually won her the whole season. Geneva got negative critiques for her performance because she didn’t know who Lindsey Graham was and it showed. Mirage was also critiqued for her performance and her look. The tops this week were Q, Plane, and Plasma, who all got high praise for both their performances and looks!
In the end, Plasma won, while Mirage and Geneva fell into the bottom two. They faced off to Dark Lady by Cher. Mirage was performing great, but she didn’t know the words! Geneva got to stay, while Mirage sashayed away. It was tough to see her leave because she had a tough time with it. All of the other queens were crying, too. It was a hard elimination!
