Goodbyes aside it’s a new week, and after seeing Pink Chadora leave, the queens reflect on how they performed. We find out that had Hornella Góngora won, she would have sent Onyx Unleashed and kept her sister in, which is a shock to no-one.
And the time has come, it’s the game I find intolerable… Snatch Game! Onyx Unleashed sums it up perfectly “We’re preparing for one of Drag Race’s most overrated challenges…Snatch Game.” It’s not that it’s boring to watch, it feels like setting foot on board a sinking ship and it’s embarrassing for everyone involved. As RuPaul always says, just make it funny, and very few did that, perhaps you had to understand the jokes of the characters being portrayed.
The guest judges joining the snatch game were chaotic and not in a fun way. As in trying to steal the spotlight at brunch chaos, you know the ones, the girls who think they’re part of the show too. This added to the cringe factor, although Pupi Poisson did a great job, and made the game funny, as did Drag Sethlas who played Aless Gibaja again no idea who the characters were but it didn’t matter it was enjoyable to watch. As the great Trinity Taylor once said, “Girl I don’t know what she’s saying, but girl I am living.” Another one who caught my eye was Pakita, the dedication in her overdone prosthetics made her unrecognisable, and an honourable mention was how dedicated Juriji Der Klee was to her role that shaved her actual hair.
The runway however picked itself up, and the category is ‘Rudemption’ the queens get to redeem an outfit they thought fell flat on their season. Drag Sethlas stole the show, it might just be the most creative outfit we’ve seen in any franchise. Coming out as a gigantic wolf, and transforming into a little red riding hood. Her looks are so well crafted, and once again she is excelling. Another notable look was Onyx, the pastel colours I adored, along with Pupi, that colour palette is my dream. Of course, it would be criminal to not mention Juriji who came out with sparklers on her boobs, she’s an icon, it then proceeded into cones full of popcorn, who doesn’t a love functional outfit?
This week’s guest judge is a comedienne Silvia Abril and I loved how she critiqued the queens, she walked the tightrope of being critical and respectful whilst keeping it positive and funny. It’s hard to say who would be bottom two, although I would say Samantha Ballentine didn’t really stand out. However, the jury decides that Sagittaria and Onyx (once again in the bottom) are up for elimination, and I would say a fair placement. The two deciding the fate of who leaves are the top two which are Pupi and Drag Sethlas (perhaps one to watch). It’s interesting to see who will be saved depending on who wins, will Pupi save her Season 1 sister Sagittaria and will Sethlas save her season 2 once again?
LipSyncing for the win, this week’s tune is Nochentera by Vicco, it was a photo finish and Pupi secured it with an unexpected split. The time comes for her to send someone home, and they truly amp up the drama, and for a tiny second I did wonder if she would send her sister home. But instead sticks with her heart and chooses to send Onyx home.
An emotional goodbye, what did you think of this weeks snatch game?
