The queens of RuPaul’s Drag Race were back this week and the first subject of conversation was Mhi’ya Iman Le’Paige’s lip sync. She certainly is the queen of flips. They also celebrated Q’s victory and questioned Sapphira Cristal’s choice to use her immunity potion. She was in her own head and had to quiet the voice. Oh yeah, and Megami said Dawn’s look resembled Buzz Lightyear, which was perfect.
RuPaul entered the workroom to share that this week’s maxi challenge was none other than the Rusical. This season’s was titled The Sound of Rusic, which was perfect. Dawn hates musical theater and was not thrilled. The queens would be assigning the roles themselves, which is always entertaining, right?
The lead role was Mariah, which is based on Julie Andrews’ character. Plasma, Morphine Dior Love, and Sapphira all wanted the lead. Everyone thought Plasma or Sapphira, who had theater backgrounds, were the ones for the role. Plasma put her foot down and got the role. There was also a fight for the villain role. Q and Megami both wanted the title, and so they played a game of rock, paper, scissors for it, and Q won. Drama!
While the queens were learning their lines, the mean girls of the musical, Q, Xunami Muse, and Plane Jane were walking around and causing mischief, which was pretty funny. Somehow, in the midst of all this, Plasma realized her role was a lot of stage time, and she began getting nervous.
The queens then went out on the main stage to learn the choreography with Adam Shankman and his assistant, Melissa McCarthy! She was hilarious and shared a heartfelt message about drag. It was wonderful! Oh yeah, and she gave everyone cheese.
On the main stage, Ru was joined by Michelle Visage, the hilarious Ross Mathews, and Adam! The performance was great! No one stood out for the wrong reasons, just some queens who blended into the background. Sapphira and Q stood out to me, and of course, Plasma did amazing!
The category for the runway was ‘I can buy myself flowers,’ and Sapphira was a clear standout in this part of the challenge, too! I loved Dawn and Nymphia Wind’s looks, as well! Mhi’ya and Plasma looked beautiful.
When it came time for the judges’ critiques, Dawn, Plane, and Xunami were safe. Plasma, Sapphira, and Q were the top, and Plasma was the winner! Megami, Morphine, and Mhi’ya fell into the bottom three.
It was Mhi’ya and Megami who fell into the bottom two and faced off to Flowers by Miley Cyrus. The queen of flips won a lipsync without doing a single one! While it was sad to see Megami go, Mhi’ya won that!
