Let’s start by saying that this season has already been thoroughly enjoyable, even after the emotional goodbye we said to fan favourite Arantxa Castilla-La Mancha. Back in the werkroom and Keta Minaj reveals that had she won, she would have sent Choriza May home. It’s a tense conversation as they all realise that a different game is being played then they previously thought, one where some are choosing to send home the strongest competition. There are of course, no rules on who to eliminate, however as La Grande Dame wisely says those who chose to send home the biggest competition are insecure with their abilities.
The queens this week are challenged to create a branding video called Drag Race World based on their drag character, and it looks like some missed the brief. It’s a chaotic whirlwind of ideas, and although it’s a branding challenge they’re to work in teams. With La Grande, and Keta winning they are assigned team captains, and as Choriza was in the bottom she is also appointed leader.
Each team is an equal measure of talent and chaos, La Grande Dame is with Hannah Conda and Jonbers Blonde. Tia Kofi admits to not wanting to be on Keta’s team, and lo and behold she gets selected to accompany her with Mariana Summers. Leaving Gothy Kendoll and Scarlett Envy on team Choriza!
Everyone has strong ideas, but some are better executed than others. Keta’s team focuses more on looking like a tourist commercial, however Tia shines and showcases just how funny she is! Scarlett excitedly reveals her excitement at finally being able to use her degree in marketing for this challenge.
As we join Michelle Visage for the filming, and as usual we aren’t sure who’s winning but instead are led to believe who’s struggling. We’re to assume that La Grande Dame is failing and stealing her teammates’ time due to her many characters. Yet guess what, it all plays out well and is fun if not a little cringe to watch. Never trust the filming scenes!
A really important chat amongst the queens takes place in the Werk Room, and LGBTQIA’s rights in their home countries. Marina talks about how the Philippines have no rights in place to protect them, and La Grande talks about the increase in violence in France, which led to her getting attacked and assaulted, in which the police shrugged it off. It’s a sad but important talk to highlight these issues the fight needs to keep happening in countries!
Time for the main stage, and we have the iconic pop superstar Kim Petra on the panel! The runway is Ruveal yourself and we’ve got some wonderful outfits. La Grande Dame’s is unique and out of the box, as a Miss France competitor peeing on stage due to nerves. Lovely. Marina as to be expected knocks it out of the park. A special shout out to my UK girls, I’m very proud of the looks, especially Gothy Kendoll, and to no surprise her outfit was my favourite, a pink 60’s fantasy revealing her babies on her chest! Tia pays homage to Mother Ru with her vogue front cover outfit.
Airing of the commercials begins, and Choriza’s team does an excellent job at making everyone laugh. It’s not that anyone flops, as there’s no clear structure of just what the brief is, outlined as an immersive experience, the queens did the best they could with the vague brief.
No one else’s team flops, but Keta is clearly the weakest. The editing of La grandes team made out she took up too much time, when in fact, Jonbers just had too much content and didn’t edit herself. Which La grand gently explains in untucked. The tops this week are Scarlett Envy and Tia Kofi. A big week for Tia and so very proud of her growth. Whilst the queens untucked the safe queens all discuss how they would send Keta home, which will be interesting to see in the next episode.
As they take to the stage to lip sync to Kim Petra’s The Future Starts Now It’s an okay lip sync, considering Tia was a lip sync assassin on the show it’s a bit of a mixed bag. But Scarlett is declared the winner, and she chooses to send the first U.K. girl home Miss Jonbers Blonde! So what did we think of this week’s episode?
