Welcome to Tia Kofi’s drag race, as this queen has had a big glow-up since her season, going on to win the snatch game last episode and, more importantly, her first badge. Gathering on the couches, Hannah Conda explains that had she won the lipsync, she had planned to send Gothy Kendoll home, which is understandable.
It’s a new week in the Werk room, and it’s the first badge the U.K. has won. Go U.K! Choriza May comes in wearing the cutest flower hat, of which speaks to my aesthetics on a big scale. Now get ready to throw on your best shades, as what? Reading is fundamental, and Well. Everyone tried their best, it had some hits and misses; Gothy did throw some strong reads, as did Hannah, and Scarlett Envy but Tia provided a mix of dad jokes that went down well with RuPaul. Making Ru howl with laughter, led Tia winning and assigning the roles for this week’s maxi challenge.
And this maxi challenge is set to wow and stun as the queens are to perform in ‘Seven: Confessions of a Drag Queen the Rusical.’ This is my favourite kind of maxi challenge as it’s a girl group challenge mixed with a rusical, and with this cast, it’s something that they will excel at. As casting director Tia says, “She wants to make it the best show for us at home to enjoy.” Thus the roles are distributed evenly, and the queens are assigned help with some good old self-esteem.
Yes, the self-esteem in question is the artist Self-Esteem, who is currently serving in the West End musical Cabaret. She is here to help the queens polish their lyrics and give the queens direction. On the other hand, when it comes to the choreography, the dancing is down to the queens. But the rehearsal was so wonderful to watch, as they all worked so well to make sure each person shined. Especially with Gothy, who had no idea what to do, instead of letting her flop, they came together and made sure she was not only secure but centre stage, shining brightly. Everyone genuinely wanted to see her succeed!
For me, this has been one of the most fun Rusicals in a very long time. The high-calibre production, the costumes, and the way the girls worked together were great to watch! Plus, I love the colour purple, so seeing those outfits as a group just fulfilled me. Marina Summers. The only thing to say is: It’s her world, and we’re all just living in it. Having to sing live, I imagine, is incredibly daunting, but everyone does well. Gothy Kendoll is on another show and planet, and I loved it. We should all go into life as confidently as Gothy did, knowing very little of the lyrics.
And this week’s runway category is: When I glow up. Each queen has their chance to redo an outfit from their original season. Tia brings back the sad pigeon pterodactyl, but this time it is returning with mechanical wings. Marina, just wow. She is Miss Universe, and to think she needed a glow-up to begin with is unimaginable. Rupaul agrees, in the critiques leading to telling her, “That she was born to do drag.” Once you hear him say those words, you know that she’s a clear frontrunner for that crown. A shout-out to La Grande Dame, and her warped sense of humour chose to recreate her one-night look. Completely head-to-toe in condoms, it’s very LGD, and only she can make it chic.
The top two for tonight are Tia Kofi and born-to-be drag queen Marina Summers; both are tasked with deciding which of the bottom to send home. Those two are Choriza and Gothy; as a collective, the cast, the viewers at home, and Gothy must have seen what the outcome was going to be. Of course, the lip sync confirmed that, and Marina made that stage her own and won this week, with another Rupeter badge added to her collection. We say goodbye to Gothy, but her farewell speech expressed her gratitude for the experience, glow up, and have a camp old time. So, what did we think of this week’s episode?
