The queens returned to the workroom after Plasma’s surprising elimination. It was clear that Mhi’ya Iman LaPaige is the lip-sync assassin of the season, but some queens thought she may have needed to get the chop. Morphine Love Dion said she would have cut her dress to ensure she didn’t get sent home by Mhi’ya, and Mih’ya replied that she still would have gone home. To quote Q, the Miami girls aren’t friends!
It was a new day in the workroom and RuPaul entered to tell the queens that for this week’s maxi-challenge, the queens would be writing and recording verses for an inspirational anthem called Power to encourage listeners to vote! Oh yeah, and the song will be part of the Werq the World tour.
They began workshopping their verses. Sapphira Cristal used inspiration from the Black National Anthem for her verse, while Mhi’ya rhymed equal with equal. Dawn had it all together, and Nymphia Wind hoped she would help her write her verse. Dawn was not having it, but it was cute watching their interaction.
After working on their verses, they recorded them with Leland. Morphine and Sapphira killed it, while Plane Jane, Nymphia, and Mhi’ya struggled a bit. Dawn was great, and Q was… something! We’re in for a treat with this track, friends.
Next came everyone’s favorite part, learning choreography with Jamal Sims. What unfolded on the stage was not very surprising. Dawn, Plane, and Q struggled, while Mhi’ya, Morphine, and Sapphira shined.
As the queens were getting in drag, Dawn opened up about mental health and her journey with therapy. It was inspiring to hear. On the other hand, Nymphia took the time to persuade Plane to give her the immunity potion, which expires this week! Sapphira brought us back to reality by reminding the queer community to get out and vote!
The queens hit the main stage to perform their song in front of Ru, Michelle Visage, Ross Mathews, and Jamal. It was a fun performance, and no one stood out for being absolutely horrible, so that’s always good! The song was pretty catchy, too.
On the runway, the category was ‘true colors.’ Of course, Nymphia chose yellow, and she looked wonderful. Sapphira looked incredible, but let’s face it, she does EVERY week. I loved Dawn’s look, too, because it was so perfectly her.
The moment finally arrived: Plane’s last chance to use her immunity potion. She chose to give the position to Nymphia! Morphine said she was surprised as Plane is a rotted human being.
It was time for the judges’ critiques! For once, Mhi’ya got high praise, which was nice to see! On the other hand, Plane got negative critiques for maybe the first time all season. Sapphira was clearly on top, along with Morphine. Dawn and Q also got high praise.
Everything was so good this week, right? How could they possibly put anyone in the bottom two? Well, don’t worry, it’s a non-elimination episode! Everyone was safe, while Sapphira and Morphine would lip-sync for the win!
They faced off to Made You Look by Meghan Trainor. Maybe the worst song of all time on the main stage, no? Regardless, Sapphira and Morphine turned it out. It was a close one. In the end, Sapphira took home the win!
What did you think of this week’s episode? I thought it was wholesome and fun! Sound off in the comments below!
