The Old Gray Hare is bouncing to a mix of brand-new beats and longtime favorites at The Green Room 42 for the month of April. Filthy and frisky as ever, the legendary Lady Bunny opens her one-person cabaret with All That Jizz, kicking off a medley of dick jokes so blue the Smurfs are ready to send a cease and desist. If this was just the beginning, you can only imagine how far things escalated. April Fool is extra spicy with a side of raunch.
The show is stacked with crowd-pleasers, from original songs to parodies of popular ditties to Laugh-In style standup gags. With joke-heavy medleys woven from the hits of today and yesteryear in just about every genre, adult patrons young and old can share an intergenerational giggle. Was the show 1000% memorized? Nope. But the audience was laughing too hard to care. And Bunny’s so funny off the cuff that during the technical hiccups, her improvised quips were almost better than what had originally been planned. Bunny doles out an abundance of shade, especially when it comes to the Drag Race set, but she’s really her own best target. From snout to tail, the self-proclaimed “pig in a wig” had me belly-laughing and boogieing in my seat.
