Three decades after the landmark documentary Paris is Burning, we’re getting another peek behind the curtain of New York’s legendary drag ball competitions, which brought phrases like “Tens across the board” and the art of voguing into the American lexicon. House on Fire (premiering this summer on WOW Presents Plus). showcases the next generation of the ballroom scene, putting a spotlight on the “most distinguished House of them all-the House of Miyake-Mugler“.
Made up of nine chosen family members, the House of Miyake-Mugler is structured like so many other houses; As the Heads of the household, Yuself Mugler & Exotic Mugler balance both competition and career, while also mentoring their talented “children” Tati, Roz, Lolita, Chanel, Brooklyn and aspiring new member AJ. The release goes on to say “Like any family, the new generation is rebellious, ambitious and full of fresh ideas; pushing the boundaries between representing their historic House and ballroom legacy, and keeping a tight-knit family together. Things get even more complicated when former House ‘jewel’, Leyna Bloom, who at one time had been tapped to be the next Mugler Mother, considers rejoining the fold”…
